Stafford is expected to take part in the Jets morning skate on Thursday and could be in the lineup vs. the Capitals. If Stafford is unable to play, then Dustin Byfuglien will move back to forward with Adam Pardy likely to draw in. Monitor Stafford’s status during the A.M skate.

Stafford was injured in Tuesday’s game against Edmonton and his absence from today’s practice is not a good sign for his status for Thursday’s game in Washington. Expect an update later today.

The Sabres have traded Drew Stafford, Tyler Myers, Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux and a 1st round pick to the Jets for Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian and Jason Kasdorf.
Stafford, who is a pending UFA at the end of the season, had nine goals, 15 assists (24 points) and a minus-18 rating in 50 games with the Sabres this season. He is a one-time 30-goal scorer and will likely fill Evander Kane’s role on the Jets’ third line.

The Buffalo Sabres could have forward Drew Stafford back in the lineup before the end of the week.
Stafford went through practice this morning in First Niagara Center wearing a red non-contact jersey. Stafford has missed the past three games after suffering an upper-body injury against the Minnesota Wild on January 2. "I think it's more a day-to-day kind of thing," Stafford said. "I had a really long day today, a hard-working day, so we'll see how it responds later today and tomorrow morning. That's pretty much where we're at." Stafford has four goals and nine assists in 41 games this season.

Stafford will play tomorrow.
Stafford was a heathy scratch for the Sabres last two games. He will return to the lineup tomorrow vs. the Panthers. He has just 11 points in 31 games this season after scoring 50 points in 80 games in 2011-12.
