Lysell's time in Boston's ends after just 12 appearances after the forward was traded to Colorado for Ivan Ivan on Saturday. Lysell was Boston's 2021 1st round pick (21st overall) but never panned out as planned last appearing in the NHL in 2024-25. He spent all of last season with Providence (AHL), where he put up 17 goals and 42 points in 57 games played.

Jeffrey Viel will be a healthy scratch on Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens, allowing Lysell to re-enter the lineup. The 27-year-old Lysell has played five games in his first NHL season, scoring zero points and averaging 12:50 time-on-ice.

It's unclear if Lysell is dealing with some sort of undisclosed injury or if he is simply a healthy scratch. Jeffrey Viel will draw into the lineup in his place.

Lysell made his NHL debut this season, playing one game for Boston, but has spent most of the 2024-25 campaign in the AHL. The 22-year-old was Boston's 21st-ovreall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He has 34 points (11G / 23A) in 51 games with the Providence Bruins (AHL) this season.

Lysell was "cut" from training camp on September 29th but GM Don Sweeney made it clear that day that Lysell could be called back up for Thursday or Saturday's preseason game. Lysell was first round pick in 2021 but has yet to appear in an NHL game. The 21-year-old had 50 points (15G / 35A) in 56 AHL games last year and should be in the mix for a middle-6 role in Boston this season.
