Rybinski has yet to play an NHL game but has become an effective contributor in recent seasons in the AHL, which is likely what the Toronto Maple Leafs hope he can bring to their organization. The 25-year-old forward scored 30 points (10G / 20A) last season in 59 games with the Hershey Bears (AHL).

Rybinski is coming off his third and most successful AHL season with Hershey and has earned himself a one-year, two-way contract extension worth $775,000 with Washington. The 24-year-old forward was the Capitals' 2019 5th-round pick (136th overall) and is expected to spend 2025-26 back with Hershey, where he had 10 goals and 35 points in 60 games last season.

Rybinski was originally a fifth-round pick of the Panthers but went unsigned. There centre played in the WHL from 2018-to-2022, finishing the most recent season with 18 goals and 36 assists (54 points) in 39 games with Seattle.
