The Penguins have signed Jack Johnson to a five-year contract worth $16.25M ($3.25M AAV).
Johnson is a former No.3 overall pick, who has had a few bad years. Johnson is coming off of a season in which he had a -5.4 relative Corsi and was a healthy scratch during the playoffs. However, Johnson remains a high-end skater who can play a physical style of game and brings some offence as well. In Pittsburgh, he will be an upgrade on Chad Ruhwedel as a third-pairing defenseman.

Johnson eats up 26:13 a game on average. Columbus is now without Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov and Johnson... Arguably their three best players.

Johnson moves down a pairing which means he likely gets less time in the offensive zone. However, he is the top offensive defenseman on the pair so he should be a more impactful player. So far the former third overall pick has four goals and nine points.
Johnson and Doughty to be paired.
The Kings finally put these two together at even strength. Johnson is off to an excellent start with four goals and eight points over 17 games.
