Josh Bailey News

Bailey missed the morning skate with a lower-back issue but will play in Carolina.

Bailey didn’t skate this morning, but head coach Barry Trotz said there is a “0.0% chance” that he won’t play tonight. Bailey is coming off of the best season of his career (18G / 53A / 71P) and will start the year on the top line with Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier.

Bailey (upper-body) will be back in the Islanders lineup on Tuesday.

Bailey has missed the last twogmaes with an upper-body injury but will be back on the top line vs the Flyers on Tuesday. Bailey has gone pointless in his last three games, but still sits tied for 20th in the NHL in assists (51) while also scoring 18 goals for a total of 69 points in 73 games.

Bailey (lower-body) will return to the Islanders lineup on Thursday.

Bailey missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, but will return to the lineup tonight vs. the Bruins. The Islanders went 3-1-0 in four games without Bailey, but he will provide a huge boost to their top line. He returns to the lineup with 50 points (12G / 38A) in 42 games this season, ranking him 11th in the NHL.

Bailey (lower-body) will not be available on Saturday.

Bailey will miss his second straight game with a lower-body injury but the Islanders have yet to give a firm timetable for his return. Head coach Doug Weight said they “have to figure everything out and hopefully [Bailey] is back sooner than later. That’ all I can tell you now.” The good news it that it doesn’t sound like Bailey will be out for an extended period of time, but it’s unfortunate not to have a firm grasp on how long he’ll be sidelined. Monitor his status heading into the Islanders back-to-back on Monday/Tuesday.

Bailey left Friday's game with a lower-body injury and did not return.

Bailey, who is having a massive campaign, played just 2:52 TOI before exiting last night’s loss to the Penguins. The Islanders did not have an update on Bailey postgame, so consider him as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Devils.

Bailey will “get a shot” on the Islanders top line on Friday.

Bailey will be the latest Islanders forward to get a crack on the Isles top-line with John Tavares and Kyle Okposo tonight vs. the Red Wings. Bailey has two goals in his last three games and has nine points (5G / 4A) in 20 games this season.

Bailey (hand) has returned to Isles’ practice on Monday.

Bailey has missed the last seven games with a broken hand that he suffered on October 23 vs. the Bruins. It is unlikely that Bailey will return to the lineup tomorrow, but this is a step in the right direction for Bailey. Monitor his status as the week progresses, he should travel to Florida on Wednesday.

Josh Bailey
Bailey (hand) will travel with the Islanders to Colorado.

Bailey was not on the ice for the Islanders morning skate and obviously won't play on Tuesday, but traveling with the team is another encouraging sign that he fractured hand is not as serious as it was originally believed to be. He will likely return to the ice at some point during the road-trip.
