Appleby was recalled to serve as the backup to Ilya Sorokin while Semyon Varlamov was sidelined with a lower-body injury. With Varlamov activated from the injured reserve on Monday, Appleby has been reassigned to Bridgeport of the AHL.
Semyon Varlamov exited Tuesday's game against the Colorado Avalanche in the first period, his second injury in less than a week, prompting the Isaldners to recall Appleby again. If Varlamov is out for an extended period, Appleby will unlikely see much action between the pipes as Varlamov will take the reigns between the pipes.

Guptill, 23, was a third round pick (77th overall) in 2010 and was acquired by the Senators as a part of the Jason Spezza deal with Dallas. He had just one assist in three games with Binghamton this season and 14 goals and nine assists in 38 games between Evansville and Manchester of the ECHL.
