Martin Havlat News

Pretty safe to say Havlat won't be in the lineup tonight vs. BUF and we'll get word on the other recovering #sjsharks shortly.

Despite taking part in today's line rushes, Havlat likely needs a few more games. Limited to only 26 games, the winger has two goals and 15 points.

DETROIT - Injured Sharks forward Marty Havlat is scheduled to return to action in mid-March, Todd McLellan said after the Sharks-Red Wings game on Sunday afternoon.

Great news on Havlat, as he progresses. Limited to only 26 games, the winger has two goals and 15 points.

One more #sjshark update: Marty Havlat, out since mid-Dec. hamstring surgery, is skating back in SJ. Still aiming for mid-March return.

Great news on Havlat, as he takes his first step. Limited to only 26 games, the winger has two goals and 15 points.

Doug Wilson says Havlat will start skating in the "near future," but wouldn't specify exactly when.

Havlat skating will obviously be the first step. In his first 26 games with the Sharks, the Czech winger scored two goals and 15 points. Expect him to return at some point this month.

Marty Havlat out on the ice in shorts and sneakers to take a few shots on an empty net - and they turned the lights out on him. #SJSharks

Havlat taking some shots on goal is a good sign. In his first 26 games with the Sharks, the Czech winger scored two goals and 15 points. Expect him to return at some point this month.

“I think from this point forward it’s about getting his strength up and conditioning,” the Sharks coach continued. “I can’t pinpoint a date for you, but the sooner the better.”

Havlat is off crutches and walking around normally. In his first 26 games with the Sharks, the Czech winger scored two goals and 15 points. Expect him to return at some point in February.

Havlat said he can't do much for next 2-3 weeks. "Nice that i can get out of the house today, and talk to you guys." #thanksmarty!

Considering Havlat can't resume hockey-related activities until mid-January it is probably safe to keep him out of your plans until February. Just another notch on his injury-marred resume.

The fact that Benn Ferriero will be replacing Havlat is another indirect indication that Havlat might be out awhile. The next game Ferriero plays means he will have to clear waivers should the Sharks want to reassign him to Worcester. Would you want to take that risk if this were a one- or two-game stint?

Havlat injured himself in a freak accident along the boards on Saturday. He has two goals and 15 points over 26 games with the Sharks. A prolonged absence in addition to possible surgery could take him out of the lineup for a while.

McLellan: Havlat will definitely miss next 2 games, and injury doesn't require surgery from what he understands. #SJSharks

As we expected, Havlat will not play for a little while. Don't expect the forward back in the lineup for the remainder of the year, if not longer.

#SJSharks Havlat says too soon to know extent of damage. Serious limp, tho.

Sounds like Havlat will miss extensive playing time for the Sharks. He scored two goals and 15 points over his first 26 games in San Jose. Look for Benn Ferreiro to replace him in the lineup.

TM on Havlat: “He got hooked up on the boards and other than that I can’t give you an update now. We’ll have to do that in the morning.”

Havlat injured himself after staying relatively healthy this season. Every season he seems to find a way to get hurt.

Martin Havlat
Havlat and Ferriero both in the lineup tomorrow for #SJSharks.

Look for Havlat to take his usual line next to Logan Couture and Ryane Clowe. The winger scored 22 goals and 62 points in 78 games with the Wild last season. He should come close to those totals over a full season in San Jose.

Havlat not talking to his surgeon till Wednesday for clearance, but McLellan says he expect him to be in #SJSharks lineup Friday in NJ.

Havlat has been teasing fantasy hockey owners since the beginning of the season. He still needs to have his shoulder medically cleared to make sure he has enough strength to play. The winger scored 22 goals and 62 points in 78 games with the Wild last season. Look for Torrey Mitchell to continue skating with his line before he returns.
