Calvert (abdomen) will play tonight.

Calvert will play for the first time since October 10 after undergoing surgery on his abdomen. With Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik out, this is a small bright spot for the Blue Jackets. Calvert is an undersized pass-first forward who will play on the third line if Derek MacKenzie can't play, if he does Calvert suits up on the fourth line tonight.

Calvert has been sidelined since October 12 after having surgery to repair an abdominal tear. Skating in a regular sweater indicates that he is nearing a return. Monitor his status prior to Tuesday's contest vs. Washington. Calvert is an under-sized winger who has yet to make a splash in the NHL. He has 20 goals and 19 assists (39 points) in 100 career NHL games.

Looks like Calvert / Brassard are out as scratches.

Calvert once again finds himself on the outside looking in. After scoring 11 goals in 42 games last year he has no goals through 13, adding only three assists. The Blue Jackets must feel that if he's not contributing on the box score they would rather put a checker in the lineup.
