Marner missed Toronto's previous game due to rest related reasons but will draw back into Toronto's lineup for game 82 as he attempts to reach the century mark in points for the first time in his seven-year career. The 25-year-old has 30 goals, 69 assists, 195 SOG, 28 PIMs and a +18 plus/minus through 79 games this season.


Marner rested for the Maple Leafs' previous game but will draw back into the lineup Tuesday as they take on Columbus. The 25-year-old star is just two points from his career high in points (97) as he has 28 goals, 67 assists, 180 SOG, 28 PIMs and a +16 plus/minus through 75 games played.


The Maple Leafs are locked into second place in the Atlantic Division, so there's nothing for them to play for tonight. In addition to Marner, Auston Matthews and John Tavares will also sit out.

Marner missed the last two games while in the COVID-19 protocol list but is set to play Saturday in St. Louis. Marner will replace Ondrej Kase (COVID-19 protocol) on the top line and top power-play unit.

Marner will miss Saturday's game in Colorado and could miss Tuesday's game in Vegas, depending on if he clears protocol or not. With Marner out, Alexander Kerfoot shifted to the Auston Matthews' line and Ilya Mikheyev moved into the top-6 at Friday's practice.


Marner has been practicing recently and was trending towards playing, but activating him on Saturday morning makes it official. Marner, who has 21 points (6G / 15A) in 24 games this season, has not played since December 1st.

Marner landed on IR this morning and head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters that he is expected to miss at least three weeks. Wayne Simmonds will take Marner's spot on the top line on Tuesday because Jason Spezza will be suspended.

Marner will miss his third straight game on Tuesday but should be eligible to be activated from IR for Thursday's game if he's healthy enough. Alex Steeves was recalled from the AHL to take Marner's spot on the roster and could make his NHL debut vs. the Blue Jackets.


Marner left Friday's practice early for precautionary reasons and is listed as a game-time decision in Minnesota. It seems likely that Marner will play but monitor his status when the Maple Leafs hit the ice for warmups at 6:30 PM ET.

Marner told reporters that he's taking it "day-by-day" so monitor his status prior to the second half of the Maple Leafs' Tuesday/Wednesday back-to-back. Marner skated on the second line with John Tavares and Ilya Mikheyev on Monday and will re-enter the lineup with 18 points (4G / 14A) in 18 games when he's healthy.
