With both Evgenii Dadonov and Connor Brown coming off IR on Tuesday, Nathan Legare was the odd-man out and has been sent down to Utica (AHL). The 25-year-old appeared in one game for the Devils during his brief call up, picking up two hits during his 8:15 TOI.

Legare made his NHL debut last season, playing three games with the Devils, but has otherwise exclusively played in the AHL. The 24-year-old third-round pick from the 2019 NHL Entry Draft has one goal and 21 penalty minutes in 11 games this season with the Utica Comets (AHL).

Lagare spent the majority of the 2024-25 season with Utica (AHL), earning himself a one-year, two-way contract after scoring 17 goals and 25 points in 69 games played. The 24-year-old winger also made his NHL debut in 2024-25, but failed to pick up a point in any of the three games he appeared in.

Legare was acquired mid-way through the season from Montreal for Arnaud Durandeau and has signed a one-year, two-way contract with New Jersey into the 2024-25 season. The 23-year-old former captain of Baie-Comeau (QMJHL) finished his third season in the AHL in 2023-24 and had eight goals, and four assists in 54 games played this season with Laval and Utica.

In 2022-23 he had eight goals, 19 points, 76 PIMs and a -17 plus/minus through 68 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).
