Petan will be back in the Maple Leafs lineup on Wednesday.

Petan was a healthy scratch on Monday but will draw into the lineup tonight in Montreal. Petan will replace Rasmus Sandin, who dressed as a seventh defenseman on Monday. Petan has one assist into games this season and is expected to see some time on PP1 this evening.

Petan will make his season debut on Thursday.

Petan has sat for the first 10 games of the season but will replace Pierre Engvall in the lineup Thursday vs. the Canucks. The 25-year-old spent most of last season in the AHL, posting 31 points (10G /21A) in 25 games, adding three assists in 16 NHL games.

The Maple Leafs have assigned Nic Petan to Toronto (AHL).

Petan has been a yo-yo for the Maple Leafs this season, coming up to the NHL when they need him to fill-in for an injured forward. With Trevor Moore expected to play on Saturday, Petan goes back to the Marlies, where he has seven points (2G / 5A) in three games this season.

The Maple Leafs have recalled Nic Petan from Toronto (AHL).

Every time Petan goes to the AHL, he has quickly returned to the Maple Leafs. This time it's because Andreas Johnsson was hurt on Wednesday. Petan has just three assists in 13 NHL games this season but has dominated the AHL, posting seven points (2G / 5A) in three games.

Petan has cleared waivers and been assigned to the Toronto Marlies (AHL).

Petan played one game during his most recent call-up and heads back to the AHL after clearing waivers on Friday afternoon. The 24-year-old, who has five points (2G / 3A) in two AHL games, becomes a more intriguing trade target for other teams after clearing waivers.

Petan has been recalled from Toronto (AHL) and will play on Tuesday.

Petan didn't do much with the Maple Leafs earlier in the year but had a nice two-game stint with the Marlies, picking up two goals and three assists. He will replace Dmytro Timashov on the fourth line and re-enters the lineup with one goal and one assist in nine career games with the Maple Leafs.

The Maple Leafs have loaned Nic Petan to Toronto (AHL).

Toronto is actively shopping Petan right now but hasn't had any suitors yet. Petan has been a healthy scratch in three straight games and eight of the last nine, so he heads to the Marlies to get some playing time. In his most recent AHL stint, Petan had 52 points (15G / 37A) in 52 games with the Manitoba Moose back in 2018.

Petan will draw back into the Maple Leafs lineup on Wednesday.

Petan scored a goal in his Maple Leafs debut on Saturday but say as a healthy scratch in Calgary on Monday. Petan will replace Frederik Gauthier and centre the fourth line and is expected to see time on the second power-play unit as well.

Nic Petan
The Maple Leafs have acquired Nic Petan from the Jets for Par Lindholm.

Petan is a former second-round pick (No.43 overall in 2013) but struggled to get his footing in Winnipeg. Petan had back-to-back 100-plus point seasons in the WHL but has recorded just 23 points (5G / 18A) in 108 career NHL games. Petan has posted impressive numbers in the AHL but could have just as difficult of a time becoming a regular in a deep Toronto lineup.
