Pascal Leclaire, the Blue Jackets' No. 8 overall pick in 2001, has announced his retirement at age 30.
Leclaire wasn't expected to factor into the Jackets' goaltending this season.

Leclaire, whose two-year stint as an Ottawa Senators goaltender was more memorable for his laundry list of injuries than for the quickness of his glove hand or feet, remains unemployable due to his wonky hip.
Leclaire remains unsigned following hip surgery. It goes without saying that any prospective owner should monitor his recovery before drafting or adding the injury-prone netminder.
