Patrik Elias News

Elias will be back in the Devils lineup on Tuesday.

Elias was a healthy scratch on Sunday, but the Devils were on the tail-end of a back-to-back and head coach John Hynes said it was more of a maintenance day for Elias than a healthy scratch. There is no word on who will come out of the lineup for Elias, but we will find out during the Devils’ morning skate in Detroit.

Elias (knee) could make his season debut on Wednesday.

Elias has missed the first 20 games of the season, but skated on the Devils third line on Tuesday and said he could play on Wednesday vs. the Blue Jackets. Monitor his status during the morning skate, but the veteran winger will provide some extra offence for a team that ranks 22nd in the NHL in scoring.

Elias (knee) practiced with his teammates for the first time on Saturday.

Elias has missed the first five weeks of the season with a knee injury, but had been skating alone prior to joining the team during their morning skate on Saturday morning. Elias isn’t quite ready to join the lineup, but it is a good sign that he is progressing.

Elias (knee) was placed on the Devils’ non-roster injured reserve list on Tuesday.

Elias will open the season on IR after dealing with knee soreness throughout the preseason. He didn’t play in any preseason games and now the question, is how long will he be out? With Elias out, expect Jacob Josefson and Lee Stempniak to take on larger roles to start the season.

Elias (knee) will miss the Devils’ season opener.

Elias was already ruled out for the preseason and now he has been ruled out for the season opener and will start the year on IR. The 39-year-old will start the season behind the eight ball after a tough 2014-15 season.

Elias (knee) will be held out of the start of training camp.

Elias has been held out of the first couple days of training camp because of an issue with his right knee. The 39-year-old is coming off of a disappointing season in 2014-15 and missing a portion of training camp could slow his production to start the 2015-16 season.

Elias tested positive for mumps and was placed on IR on Friday.

Elias missed Tuesday’s game because he was being tested for mumps. His results came in on Friday and revealed that he does in fact have mumps and he will remain in isolation from the team until he has passed the infectious stage of the virus.

Elias missed practice on Monday and is being tested for mumps.

Elias has been bouncing in and out of the lineup as of late and now it looks like he could be heading into the Christmas break with mumps. He will be tested today and results usually take a few days to come in, so it would appear that he won’t play tomorrow.

Elias (groin) will return to the Devils lineup on Wednesday.
