He will need to be at his best on Wednesday if Slovenia is going to pull the crazy upset over Henrik Lundqvist and Team Sweden.
After giving up two early goals vs. Russia, Kristan settled in and stopped 30 of 35 shots vs. a dangerous Russian team. Slovenia put up more of a fight than some expected vs. Russia and have a chance to beat a Slovakia team who were run-over in their tournament opener.
Kristan has started 43 games for HK Nitra of the Extraliga (SVK), in those contests he has posted a 2.61 GAA and .912 SV%. He will be in tough throughout the tournament as he backstops and under-manned Slovenia squad. Thursday could be a long night as he takes on an uber-talented Russian team.
