Roberto Luongo News

Luongo will start Friday vs. Austria.

Carey Price will start the tournament opener, but Luongo will get the second game. Luongo backstopped Canada to gold in Vancouver in 2010, but has had a tough-go with the Canucks lately. He is 19-16-6 with a 2.38 GAA and .917 SV% on the season, but has lost five in a row while giving up 17 goals and posting an .880 SV%.

Luongo allowed four goals on 28 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Canadiens on Thursday. Luongo has now lost four straight starts while allowed 14 goals… Not quite the way he wants to head into the Olympics. He will be in tough tonight against a Maple Leafs squad that knows how to put the puck in the net.

Luongo starts vs. the Canadiens.

Luongo allowed three goals on 32 shots in a loss to the Bruins on Tuesday. Tonight he is expected to go head-to-head with his Team Canada teammate Carey Price. Winner is the starter in Sochi? Doubt it. But Luongo should make for a strong start as the Canadiens rank in the bottom one-third of the league in scoring.

Luongo will make his first start in Beantown since Game 6 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.

Luongo allowed four goals on 39 shots in a loss to the Blackhawks on Wednesday. He was given the next two games off, but will make the start tonight in the second game of the back-to-back set. Lu was 3-4-0 with a 2.55 GAA and .921 SV% in seven January starts.

Luongo gave up three goals on 19 shots in a 4-2 loss to the Oilers on Monday. The loss has Luongo sitting at 3-2-0 with a 2.37 GAA and .914 SV% in five starts since returning to the crease on January 18. Tonight he will get a second crack at the Blackhawks, they beat him on two of 29 shots in a 2-1 defeat in November.

Luongo gets the starts vs. the Oilers.

Luongo gave up four goals on 33 shots in a 5-4 overtime win against the Coyotes last night. It was his worst out since returning to the crease, but the Canucks were able to provide him with enough goal support. He should make for a good start tonight with Edmonton coming to Rogers Arena.

Roberto Luongo will make his third straight start.

Luongo gave up a single goal on 29 shots in a win over the Oilers on Tuesday. He has won back-to-back starts vs. western Canadian opponents while registering a 1.44 GAA and .952 SV%. The first time he met the Predators, he allowed on goal on 31 shots in a 3-1 win.

Luongo starts for the Canucks.

Luongo stopped 31 of 33 shots in a shootout win over the Flames in his return to the Canucks crease on Saturday. His return was overshadowed by a line-brawl two seconds into the game, but it was a great first game back for Bobby Lu. He should make for a great start tonight vs. an Oilers team who have lost four straight.

Luongo returns to the Canucks crease tonight.

Luongo hasn't started since January 4 because of an ankle injury. In that contest he allowed two goals on 48 shots in a loss to the Kings. He is 16-10-6 with a 2.23 GAA and .922 SV% on the season and would draw an awesome matchup tonight vs. the Flames.

Luongo first off, add in the work he was doing during practice and looks like he's starting tonight

Luongo (ankle) participated in his first practice since getting injured on January 4.

"I'm going on the road trip, but I don't know when I'll be playing yet," said Luongo. "There needs to be more progression. This was my first practice back." The Canucks begging their three-game road-trip on Monday in Los Angeles, then face the Ducks and Coyotes on a back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday. Monitor Bobby Lu's status throughout the week.

Luongo (lower-body) will have an MRI today.

Luongo did not dress on Sunday because of a lower-body injury that was believed to be suffered in a collision with Kings forward Dustin Brown on Saturday. The injury is presumably to his ankle or knee, so an MRI will reveal how serious an injury it is.

Luongo is injured and will not play tonight.

There is no word on the nature or severity of the injury but this is terrible news for the Canucks who just got Luongo back last night. Expect a full update on Monday. Vancouver have signed goalie Rob Laurie to a PTO contract for tonight's game.

Luongo lost 3-1 in his return to the Canucks' net.

Luongo shut the door through the first two periods but the Kings were able to push two goals past him and added an empty netter in the final frame. Despite the loss Bobby Lu had a great night, he stopped 46 of 48 shots (.958 SV%) after missing the previous three games with a groin injury. The Canucks are back in action on Sunday, but I would expect Eddie Lack to get the call after Luongo's busy Saturday night.

Luongo returns to the cage tonight vs. the Kings.

Luongo will get the call tonight after missing the last three games with a groin injury that he suffered on December 22. Luongo has enjoyed a good first half as he works his way towards the Sochi Olympics in February. He currently sits at 16-9-6 with a 2.24 GAA and .920 SV% in 32 starts. Tonight he will start vs. the Kings who he is 0-1-1 with a 4.54 GAA and .825 SV% against this season.

As expected, Luongo (groin) is on the ice for Canucks practice.

With Jocaim Eriksson being sent back to the AHL on Thursday it was obvious that Luongo was back to full-health and will dress on Saturday. No word yet if Luongo will start or back-up, but it is a great news for the Canucks that Luongo only missed three games.

Roberto Luongo
Luongo (groin) should be able to dress on Saturday.

Luongo has missed he last three games with a groin injury that he suffered on December 22. The Canucks sent down his replacement Jocaim Eriksson today, suggesting that he is healthy enough to dress or maybe start on Saturday.

Roberto Luongo out working with Rollie Melanson and looking fine doing crease movement patterns before shots.

Luongo has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury suffered on December 22. He is not expected to be out long-term and could play in one of the Canucks two games this weekend.
