Luongo has now won six of his last seven starts while posting a 2.39 GAA, .933 SV% and one shutout. The veteran has been red-hot since returning from injury and is a great option vs. the Rangers tonight—he is 9-2-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .936 SV% on home ice this season.
Luongo allowed five goals on 33 shots in the Panthers loss in Tampa Bay on Tuesday. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Luongo but he will remain in net tonight vs. the Canadiens. It will be his first start against his hometown team this season and there aren’t too many goalies playing as well as Bobby Lu right now.
Luongo stopped 39 of 40 shots in the Panthers win over the Flyers on Sunday. The 38-year-old is riding a five-game winning streak, stopping 170 of 182 shots (.934 SV%) in the process. Luongo has been excellent since returning from injury and tonight he will face the Lightning for the first time since opening night—he allowed four goals on 24 shots in a 5-3 loss that night.
Luongo allowed two goals on 39 shots in the Panthers overtime win over the Maple Leafs on Tuesday. Luongo has been outstanding, winning three in a row and four of his last five with a 2.58 GAA and .926 SV%. In his first start against the Devils, Luongo stopped 23 of 25 shots in a 3-2 win in late-November.
