Luongo made 33 saves on 35 shots in the Panthers’ 3-2 victory over the Capitals on Thursday. He has been stellar in the three games he’ played since returning from injury, posting a .939 SV%. He draws a tough matchup tonight at home against the Penguins.

Luongo turned in another solid performance in a losing effort to the Maple Leafs on Tuesday, stopping 30 of 31 shots in the 1-0 loss. Yesterday coach Bob Boughner said he envisions Luongo getting the majority of the starts for the Panthers from here on out. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the high-scoring Maple Leafs.

Luongo will start Saturday for the first time since December 4th. He served as the Panthers’ backup in their 4-3 win over the Canucks on Wednesday. Luongo boasts a 2.62 GAA and a .928 SV% this season. He draws a difficult matchup against the Flames in his return tonight.

The Panthers are hopeful that Roberto Luongo (lower-body) will return in early-February.

Luongo has been out since December 4th, missing the last 14 games but head coach Bob Boughner said the hope is that he’ll be back at the beginning of February. This means the Panthers will continue to lean heavily on James Reimer throughout the remainder of January but Luongo should be back for the final 25-to-30 games of the season.

Luongo allowed two goals on 25 shots in the Panthers’ win in New Jersey on Monday. James Reimer gave him the night off on Tuesday so the Panthers will come back to Luongo tonight vs. the Sharks. In his first start against San Jose, Luongo stopped all 35 shots in a 2-0 shutout win on November 16th.

Luongo allowed four goals on 39 shots in the Panthers’ loss to Chicago on Saturday. It was another busy night for Luongo, who has faced an average of 38.1 shots per game in his eight November starts—he is 4-3-1 with a 2.34 GAA and .938 SV% in those games. He will face a Devils team that is 6-3-2 while averaging 2.73 goals for per game on home ice.

Luongo stopped 43 of 44 shots in the Panthers’ shootout win over the Maple Leafs on Wednesday. It was another excellent outing for the veteran netminder, who is now 4-2-1 with a 2.11 GAA and .944 SV% since returning to the Panthers crease earlier this month. He will face a Blackhawks team on home-ice, where he has gone 3-0-1 with a 2.85 GAA and .932 SV%.

He will be in tough tonight against a Maple Leafs team that ranks third in the NHL in scoring, averaging 3.59 goals for per game.
