Ryan Miller News

Miller will start Sunday in Buffalo.

Miller allowed five goals on 35 shots in the Ducks overtime loss in Toronto on Friday. The final stat line doesn't indicate how well Miller played for a third straight game. Miller has stopped 101 of the last 108 shots (.935 SV%) that he has faced. Today he faces his former team, who he is 3-2-0 with a 2.60 GAA and .916 SV% against since leaving Buffalo in the 2014 season.

Miller stopped 46 of 47 shots in the Ducks win in Los Angeles last Saturday. It was a terrific outing for Miller, who has now won two in a row while stopping 71 of the 73 shots (.973 SV%) that he's faced. The 39-year-old has gone 4-3-0 with a 2.88 GAA and .911 SV% on the road this season and is obviously a risky option against a high-scoring Maple Leafs team.

Miller stopped 25 of 26 shots in the Ducks win in Carolina on January 17th. John Gibson started last night, so they'll go with Miller tonight on the tail-end of a back-to-back. He is a rocky 3-3-0 with a 3.18 GAA and .894 SV% on the road this year but stopped 34 of 36 shots in a 4-2 win in his only stat vs. Los Angeles.

Miller gave up three goals on 20 shots in the Ducks' loss in New Jersey on Wednesday. Miller has lost two straight and has allowed three goals in both contests. With a decimated roster in-front of him and a matchup with a capable Rangers offence, Miller is not a very good option but could be used in the most desperate of situations.

Miller allowed three goals on 36 shots in the Ducks loss to the Capitals on December 6th. Miller has played very sparingly (eight starts) so far this season and has lost four of his last five games (1-2-2) while posting a 3.60 GAA and .895 SV%. He hasn't been great but tonight's matchup is. The Devils just traded Taylor Hall and have lost seven of their last eight while scoring just 1.50 goals per game.

Miller will start Monday vs. the Kings.

Miller surrendered six goals on 27 shots in the Ducks loss in Tampa Bay on November 23rd. With John Gibson sick, Miller will make just his seventh start of the season on Monday. He is 1-0-2 with a 2.96 GAA and .907 SV% on home-ice and the Kings come in on an eight-game road losing streak, scoring just 1.25 goals per game in those games.

Miller will start Tuesday vs. the Red Wings.

Miller allowed three goals on 37 shots in the Ducks loss to the Blackhawks on November 3rd. It was Miller's first loss of the season, moving him to 3-0-1 with a 2.30 GAA and .926 in his first four starts and one relief appearance. The Red Wings endured a terrible start to the season but have rattled off back-to-back wins over the Bruins and Golden Knights, so this might not be as good of a matchup as it looks on the surface.

John Gibson has started the first four games of the season and has been outstanding but Miller is expected to start the second game of the Ducks back-to-back tonight. The veteran was solid last year and is a decent spot-start option for needy owners. He was 5-3-1 with a 2.58 GAA and .910 SV% on the road in 2018-19.

The Ducks have signed Ryan Miller to a one-year deal worth $1.125M.

Miller appeared in 20 games in his second season with the Ducks, going 8-7-2 with a 2.76 GAA and .912 SV%. He wasn’t as good as he was in 2017-18 but is a steady backup option for John Gibson, especially considering Gibson’s health issues in recent years.
