Scott Parse News

Simon Gagne and Scott Parse are still doing post-practice skating, but Gagne said he doesn’t know if/when he might be able to return to practice. He’s scheduled to be evaluated again tonight.

Parse might be an option to play next season with the Kings. However, the unrestricted free agent would need to be re-signed first.

It’s a big day for Scott Parse, who is skating today for the first time since he underwent early-season hip surgery. Parse got checked out by a doctor in Nashville last week and got cleared to start skating. There’s no indication as to when Parse might be able to play again, but it seems unlikely to happen this season.

As had been expected — initial post here — Kings winger Scott Parse had hip surgery yesterday in Nashville and is expected to be out for 4-5 months.

If you own Parse is any format, feel safe to drop him. Despite scoring 14 goals in 73 games, he holds very limited fantasy hockey value when healthy.

Scott Parse, who has played only nine games this season, will have season-ending surgery on both hips in the near future. Parse has a history of problems with his hips. He played five games last season before having hip surgery, returned late in the season but, those within the team said privately, was never 100-percent healthy.

I don’t even know how to answer that, quite honestly. There’s nothing new. Nothing has changed. It hasn’t improved, it hasn’t gotten worse. It’s definitely more than a day-to-day situation with him. We’ll have to make a decision on where this goes

Parse remains out long term with no definite return date. The oft-injured winger has two goals through nine games this season.

Scott Parse took only three shifts in the first period before he left the game with what was announced as a “lower-body injury.” After the game, Terry Murray wasn’t any more descriptive, but did describe Parse’s status as “a little more than day-to-day.”

Parse was jumping between the second and third lines in the seasons early going but once again loses playing time due to injury. The oft-injured winger has two goals through nine games this season.

Scott Parse replacing Kevin Westgarth and stepping into a second-line role.

Parse knocks the punchless Dustin Penner off a scoring line. With 12 goals through 66 NHL games, Parse has shown the ability to knock in a few goals in the past. However, through two games this season he has only two shots on goal and no points.

Today’s practice meant good news for Dustin Penner and not-so-good news for Scott Parse. That would put Parse in the fourth-line fold with Kyle Clifford, Trevor Lewis, Ethan Moreau and Kevin Westgarth.

Parse was recently called out by coach Terry Murray, so he likely stays in his doghouse. Until he can provide consistent scoring at the NHL level, he will continue to be a spare part.

For now, is it possible that Scott Parse has gone from being on the roster bubble to being on the first line? Seems plausible, according to what Terry Murray said last night.

Parse was removed from the third line after his mediocre play. Relegated to only five games last season, the 27-year-old likely needs more time to get his timing down. He should be one of the front-runners to take Dustin Penner's job should he miss a significant amount of playing time.

Terry Murray spoke further about his displeasure with Scott Parse’s play and said there would be competition for that third-line right-wing spot.

After teasing the Kings for the last two seasons, Parse may not be good enough to earn a spot on the third line. Relegated to only five games last season, the 27-year-old likely needs more time to get his timing down. No reason to draft him until he re-earns his playing time.

For now, Parse said he feels 100-percent healthy and is playing right wing on the third line, alongside center Jarret Stoll and left winger Kyle Clifford. Parse has 12 goals in 64 career NHL games, so his potential is clear, but can he stay on the ice?

Parse will only have limited fantasy value as long as the current top-six forwards remain healthy. Considering Simon Gagne, Dustin Penner and Justin Williams are somewhat injury prone, he may pot 20 goals if able to suit up every night.
