Ales Hemsky News

"I think he feels good. It will be a game time decision. He thinks he can play." -Tom Renney on Hemsky's return.

Hemsky is hoping to get into the lineup for the first time since December 19th. Check back later for a further word on his status.

Losing my balance and don't see straight sometimes. Couldn't even see on the ice in Vancouver. Day to day. Every day is feeling better.

Sounds like Hemsky is coming along slowly but he should miss at least another game. The star right wing has struggled this season with only three goals and 11 points over 22 games.

Ales Hemsky leaves the morning skate early. No lines were run today for the #Oilers as practice wraps up.

Hemsky not making it through practice is certainly not a good sign. The star right wing has struggled this season with only three goals and 11 points over 22 games.

Hemsky is ill, the medical staff didn't want him spreading the cold

The Oilers have a spare forward on the roster so they could allow Hemsky to rest. Their star right wing has struggled this season with only three goals and 11 points over 22 games.

Barker & Hemsky could both play tomorrow: "I'll contemplate that. Their [drop-off test] results are very important to me." - Renney

Both player's return would bolster the Oilers' lineup. Hemsky has an assist through his first two games and likely can help out the team's power play.

Ales Hemsky been cleared for contact. With three games in four days Tues-Mtl, Thurs-Boston and Fri-Detroit we'll see when he returns.

Look for Hemsky to get back into the lineup at some point this week. The highly skilled winger posted an assist through his first two games. Expect him to get into the second line upon his return.

Renney said #Oilers will re-introduce Hemsky to contact onSunday: "We'll get some pushing and shoving and see how he makes out with that."

Hemsky's return should help the Oilers offense put a few more pucks in the net. However, he likely won't push any of his teammates off the top line as the top line continues to dominate.

Ales Hemsky is back on the ice with his teammates for the first time since the 2nd game of the season. Back at practice is a good sign...

Certainly a good sign that he is practicing with the team. Expect it to be a little while before he returns to the lineup.

Ales Hemsky
Renney does not expect Hemsky back skating with the team this week. That means the timeline is delayed from where it was set a week ago.

Sounds like yet another year of touch-and-go with Hemsky. Last season he only played in 47 contests and has missed five of the last seven which prorates to under 25 games. Keep him only if you have available space on your bench.

Hemsky says he'll be back on the ice in a week, and hopefully in the lineup a week after that. So...2 weeks is the window for now.

In the meantime, Jordan Eberle will take his place on the top line. Stay tuned for a further update on the often-injured winger.
