Stefan Matteau News

Matteau is a former first-round pick (No.29 overall in 2012) but has picked up just six points (3G / 3A) in 56 career NHL games with the Devils and Canadiens. Prior to being called up by Vegas, Matteau had four goals and one assist in 19 games with Chicago (AHL). He will replace Will Carrier (upper-body) on the fourth line tonight.

Pitlick has missed the last games but is expected to replace Remi Elie in the lineup tonight. Pitlick has registered two goals and two assists in his first 14 games of the season.

Pitlick suffered an injury vs. the Sabres last Saturday and was set to miss his second straight game tonight. His move to IR created a roster spot for Radek Faksa and Brett Ritchie to return to the lineup tonight.

Pitlick suffered an upper-body injury in Saturday’s game vs. the Sabres and it will keep him sidelined on Monday. With Pitlick out, Jamie Oleksiak will draw into the lineup as a forward.

Pitlick has split his time between the AHL and NHL in his first three professional seasons. Last year he had 21 points (7G / 14A) in 37 games with Bakersfield and 11 points (8G / 3A) in 31 games with Edmonton. He is a capable scorer with good size (6-foot, 202 lbs) who brings some offence and some upside to the Stars bottom-6.

Pitlick was hurt Monday in St. Louis and will miss the rest of the regular season with a torn ACL. Pitlick scored eight goals in 31 games and showed he was a capable NHL player, but his struggles with injuries continue.

Pitlick was hurt in Monday’s game in St. Louis and was seen postgame in a walking cast up to his thigh and on crutches. Right now, it doesn’t look good for him,” Oilers’ head coach Todd McLellan said postgame. Pitlick will be out until the Christmas break at the very least, so expect Jesse Puljujarvi or Taylor Beck to get back into the lineup on Wednesday.

Matteau has been in the lineup for the last five games, but will be replaced by Jacob De La Rose in the lineup on Tuesday. Matteau has just one assist in 11 games since being acquired by the Canadiens at the trade deadline.

Matteau has picked up one assist in six games since being acquired from the Devils at the trade deadline. Matteau will be a healthy scratch for the second time in three games—he comes out with Lars Eller re-entering the lineup.

Matteau, 22, was a first round pick in 2012, but has yet to pan out at the NHL level. The 6-foot-2, 220 lbs. forward has just one goal in 20 games this season and just five points (3G / 2A) in 44 career NHL games.

Pitlick was recalled with Joey Laleggia this morning as a paper move to maximize the Oilers cap relief by placing Jordan Eberle (shoulder) on longterm injured reserve.

Pitlick, 23, has no points in two games with Bakersfield this season. He has been recalled because the Oilers have placed Rob Klinkhammer on IR.

Pitlick has been sidelined by an undisclosed injury since December 31st, but he is expected to be back in the lineup tonight vs. the Kings. Pitlick will skate on the third line with Anton Lander and Matt Fraser. Pitlick has one goal in 14 games with the Oilers this season.

Matteau did not get into a game during his recall. He heads back to the AHL where he has one goal and eight assists in 26 games.

Matteau, 20, was the Devils first round pick (29th overall) in 2012. He has one goal and eight assists (9 points) in 26 games with Albany this season. Matteau has one goal and two assists in 17 career NHL games.

Pitlick was a plus-1 and had one shot in 9:57 TOI in his season debut on Monday. In 14 games in Oklahoma City (AHL), Pitlickhad three goals and six assists. He could have some value in daily fantasy leagues, but the way things are going for the Oilers right now, I wouldn’t have too much faith.
