How-to: Using the Fantasy Hockey Customizable Rankings Tool

Every Fantasy Hockey League is built differently, so you can’t create rankings that will cover everyone’s settings.

That’s where our Fantasy Hockey Customizable Rankings can fill a gap. Whether you’re in a Categories League or a Points League, you can use your league’s settings to curate a new set of rankings.

How To Use:

  • Step 1: Go to https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/projections
  •  Step 2: Select Categories League or Points League
  •  Step 3: Select “All Table” and check off your league’s Skater and Goalie categories. (If you’re in a points league, edit the weights for each scoring category.)
  •  Step 4: Select ESPN or Yahoo — this will give you the Position Eligibility and ADP (Average Draft Position) for each player on that platform.
  •  Step 5: Click Refresh Data

How It Works:

Using the settings provided, the tool will create Projected Fantasy Hockey Points for each player and compare that number to the “Replacement Level” projection at each position. That generates a Value Above Replacement (VAR) for each player. VAR allows you to compare players across different positions. This is valuable because if you look at just the Projected Fantasy Points, forwards are likely to score more points, but that doesn’t necessarily make them more valuable than defensemen or goalies, who may be projected for fewer points.
