Anaheim Ducks News

Husso will start vs. Toronto on Monday.

Husso has had a semi-regular workload in recent weeks and will return to the crease on Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs for his sixth start in Anaheim's last 14 games. The 31-year-old Finnish goalie has earned his increased workload with serviceable play in the backup position, posting a solid 2.60 GAA and .918 SV% in five games this month (3-2-0). The Ducks enter Monday's contest as -184 home favourites against a Maple Leafs team coming off a one-sided 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Gudas (lower-body) will return and play vs. Toronto on Monday.

Gudas was issued a five-game suspension after a vicious season-ending knee-on-knee collision with Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this month. The 35-year-old Gudas missed Anaheim's previous game due to a lower-body injury, but will return to the lineup on Monday against an angry Maple Leafs team. Gudas has 13 points (2G / 11A) and 160 hits in 54 games this season.

Gudas exited Thursday's 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames in the second period due to a lower-body injury and did not return. The severity of his injury has not been disclosed, and it is unclear what his status is for Saturday's game against the Edmonton Oilers. Husso will start in Calgary on Thursday.

For the third time in the last seven games, the Ducks will turn to Husso to tend the twine when they face the Calgary Flames on Thursday. The 31-year-old Finnish goalie allowed five goals on 29 shots (.828 SV%) in his most recent outing, but salvaged a 6-5 overtime victory over the Buffalo Sabres. He has a 2.81 GAA and .918 SV% in four games this month (2-2-0). The Ducks enter Thursday's contest as -128 road favourites against a Flames team that has been surprisingly competent since losing several key players at the trade deadline, going 6-4-0.

Anaheim has recalled Nathan Gaucher from San Diego (AHL) on Thursday.

Gaucher was a first-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft that could be poised to make his NHL debut after being recalled on Thursday. The 22-year-old forward has 26 points (12G / 14A) in 57 games this season with the San Diego Gulls (AHL).

Harkins (upper-body) is expected to be out vs. Calgary on Thursday.

Harkins suffered an upper-body injury early in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks, exiting the game after only 2:05 time-on-ice. The 28-year-old Harkins is averaging 9:35 time-on-ice and has eight points (3G / 5A) in 44 games this season.

Dostal will start in Vancouver on Tuesday.

Dostal was excellent in his previous outing, saving 29 of 30 shots (.967 SV%) in a 4-1 win over the Utah Mammoth, continuing his winning ways. That said, defensive coverage has been an issue for the Ducks all season, which directly correlates to Dostal's less-than-stellar 3.08 GAA and .884 SV% in March, despite boasting a solid 5-2-1 record. The Ducks enter Tuesday's contest as -178 road favourites against the last-place Vancouver Canucks, who have scored two or fewer goals in five of their last seven games (2-4-1).

Gudas will return from his five-game suspension vs. Vancouver on Tuesday.

Gudas was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct after striking the Maple Leafs captain, Auston Matthews, with a knee-on-knee hit on March 12th, and subsequently issued a five-game suspension. Matthews immediately left the game, and it was announced on Friday that he would miss the remainder of the regular season with a Grade 3 MCL tear. The 35-year-old Gudas will return to Anaheim's lineup on Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks.
