Buffalo Sabres News

Bishop starts tonight vs. Buffalo.

Bishop was busy on Thursday, facing 43 shots - he stopped 38 of them. Despite allowed five goals to the Blackhawks, he had a ton of goal support winning 6-5 in OT. He should be in for an easier game tonight with the Sabres in town. Buffalo's 1.42 G/G and 25.3 shots/G are the lowest in the NHL

Jonathan Bernier the lone goaltender on the ice for today's optional skate. Leads one to believe that James Reimer will start tonight.

Reimer hasn't started since being run into by a teammate on October 17th. In his last full start he allowed just one goal on 37 shots in a win vs. Minnesota. He will be in tough tonight against a great Penguins team.

Bishop starts vs. Blackhawks.

Bishop was pulled after giving up four goals on 17 shots vs. Boston on Saturday. Boston was all over the Lighting and there was not much Bishop could do. He will face the Hawks for the second time this season. The first time around he turned aside 37 of 39 shots in a 3-2 shootout win in Chicago.

Bishop will make his third straight start tomorrow.

Bishop allowed one goal for the second straight game on Thursday. He stopped 25 shots in the win over the Wild. He is 5-0 with a 1.57 GAA and .943 SV% - he is feeling it right now. Tough matchup with the Bruins tomorrow, but if you don't have a better option, hopefully the hot-streak continues.

Just 32 seconds into the game Reimer collided with teammate Josh Leivo and has left the game, replaced by Jonathan Bernier.

It appeared as if Reimer took a knee to the head, and with a history of concussions, that is not good. He was able to skate off under his own power, but went straight to the dressing room. Update to follow.

James Reimer
Reimer is expected to get a second straight start.

Reimer stopped 36 of 37 shots in a 4-1 win over the Wild on Tuesday. After Jonathan Bernier has a streak of four straight starts, Reimer showed that he can still be the number one guy in Toronto. He will get another chance tonight vs. Carolina.

Bishop starts for the Lightning.

Bishop was hurt last Thursday but has made a speedy recovery and will return to the cage tonight vs. Los Angeles. The 26-year-old is 3-0-0 with a 1.93 GAA and .928 SV% in the early part of the season. Although he is off to a strong start, the matchup with the Kings is a tough one.

James Reimer gets the call for the Leafs.

This will be Reimer's first start since the home opener on October 5th, he was pulled after allowing four goals on 21 shots. Jonathan Bernier has clearly been the better of the two netminders so far, but a good start from Reimer tonight would go a long way.

Ben Bishop off first for the Lightning this morning. Will start vs. Sabres.

The Lightning were dominated by the Blackhawks on Saturday, but Bishop was tremendous and led Tampa Bay to a shootout win. He allowed two goals on 39 shots in his first start of the season. Tonight he has a good matchup vs. a Sabres team who is struggling to score.

In response to the Coyle injury, one week after Jason Zucker was the final cut in training camp, the 2010 second-round pick was recalled from AHL Iowa before even playing his first game.

Zucker, the speedster left wing, scored four goals in 20 games last season and an overtime winner in the playoffs. Coach Mike Yeo says it's too early to determine the plans going forward and the Wild felt it was time to give Zucker a shot, but my guess:

Jason Zucker
Bishop off the ice first for Lightning. Gets the start tonight vs. Blackhawks.

Bishop will get his first start of the season tonight against the Blackhawks. He went 3-4-1 with a 2.99 GAA and .917 SV% after being traded to the Lightning at the deadline. With the Stanley Cup Champs in town it is a tough matchup for Bishop.

With an impressive track record vs. Ottawa, James Reimer gets the start in the home opener tonight.

Reimer looked good in his first start of the season allowing three goals on 37 shots. He is locked into a battle with Jonathan Bernier, who also played very well in his first start. Reimer dominated the Senators last season going 3-0-0 with 1.67 GAA, .960 SV% and one shutout.
