James Reimer starts Game 1 for the Maple Leafs.

Reimer went 19-8-5 with a 2.46 GAA and .924 SV% last season and played great in his first career playoff appearance. He was the better of the two goalies in the preseason, thus he starts opening night. He will split time with Jonathan Bernier this season, limiting his value, but behind a good Leafs team he should be able to stockpile a lot of wins.

It sounds like the Maple Leafs plan is for Reimer to start over Bernier tomorrow in Montreal.

We already know that the two are going to split each of the first two games, but for now Reimer is the likely starter for the season opener. Bernier is a native of Quebec, but Reimer has been the better of the two goalies in camp. We will await for the official word, which will come tomorrow. For now consider Reimer "likely".

Zucker impressed in his first game since straining his groin in the preseason opener. He scored the shootout winner, assisted on the third-period tying goal and most impressively caught coach Mike Yeo’s eye by hustling to beat out an icing to force a late power play that extended into overtime.

“He has moments in these games where he’s able to create chances, able to draw penalties, and that’s the kind of player he is. And that’s huge,” Yeo said. “I didn’t like his first period. I thought that he got stronger in the second period and in the third period, he changed the game.”

Left wing Jason Zucker, looking to win the second-line left wing spot or third-line right wing spot in training camp, returned to practice this morning after missing the past four days with a groin injury.

Zucker said it felt "absolutely perfect" in today's practice and coach Mike Yeo said there's a very good chance he plays Monday's preseason game in Columbus. He had 50 points in 55 games in the AHL last season and four goals in 20 games with the Wild.

Reimer vs. Rask in Game 7.

Reimer's playoff legacy continued to grow in Toronto last night. The 25-year-old netminder stopped 29 of 30 shots in the 2-1 win that froced Game 7 tonight in Boston. He has the 12th ranked GAA (2.58) and 8th ranked SV% (.932) in the playoffs. However none of that really matters in a Game 7, anything can happen.

James Reimer
Reimer will start Game 5.

Reimer was peppered yet again in Game 4 when he faced 45 shots. However he allowed four goals including an OT winner to the red-hot David Krejci. The Maple Leafs face elimination in Boston tonight and they will need Reimer to be better than he has ever been. He has a 3.33 GAA (15th/19) and a .914 SV% (11th) to this point.

Reimer starts vs. the B's.

Reimer was all the Maple Leafs could have hoped for this season. He had a winning record every month of the season while posting solid GAA and SV%. Reimer was 1-1-1 with a 1.63 GAA and .948 SV% vs. the Bruins this season, but he will have to be at his best if the Maple Leafs are going to have a chance.

Optional skate for the leafs but no doubt that james reimer is starting tonight. #tmltalk

Reimer posted a 34-save shutout over the Panthers on Thursday. He has been really good lately. He is 6-3-1 with a 2.09 GAA with .938 SV% in April. Tonight's game could be a preview of a first-round matchup... And what a matchup it would be.

Looks like an optional skate for the #leafs, lots of players but no Reimer. Expect Reimer to start.

James reimer doesn't take optional skate this morning. Might be an indication that he's starting tonight. #tmltalk

Reimer allowed four goals on 25 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Lightning last night. The Leafs are locked into the playoffs so it would be surprising if they didn't give Remer a rest in back-to-back situation. He has a great matchup tonight vs. the Panthers.

Ben bishop will start tonight. I expect James Reimer to counter for leafs. #tmltalk

Toronto is trying to get to fourth in the East so it makes sense that they would go with their #1 goalie. He stopped 49 of 50 shots that he faced in a 4-1 win over the Senators last Saturday. He is 1-0-0 vs. Tampa Bay this year.
