One of the biggest remaining RFAs of the offseason is off the board after Calgary signed Connor Zary to a three-year contract worth $3.775 million AAV ($11.325M total). The 23-year-old bruising forward was Calgary's 2020 1st round pick (24th overall) and has assimilated nicely to NHL hockey with 27 goals and 61 points in his first 117 NHL games across two seasons. He is expected to play a pivotal role in Calgary's offence for the 2025-26 season.

Connor Zary
Florida has signed Michael Benning to a one-year, two-way contract extension.

After two seasons in Charlotte (AHL), Michael Benning is expected to return to the Checkers after the 23-year-old signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with Florida on Thursday. The puck-moving defenseman has yet to make an NHL appearance but has excelled with the Checkers in his last two seasons, putting up an impressive nine goals, 32 points and 34 PIMs in 54 games played last season.

Michael Benning
Calgary has signed Martin Pospisil to a three-year contract extension worth $2.5 million AAV ($7.5M total).

Pospisil still has one year left on his two-year contract worth $1 million AAV, but has signed an extension beyond this season for three-years, $7.5 million ($2.5 million AAV) with Calgary on Wednesday. The 25-year-old bruising ringer is entering his third NHL season after playing in nearly every game in 2024-25 (81), and picking up four goals, 25 points, and 84 PIMs. He is expected to fill another bottom-six role to start the season with Calgary.

Martin Pospisil
The Islanders have signed Maxim Tsyplakov to a two-year contract worth $2.25 AAV ($4.5M total).

New York and Maxim Tsyplakov avoided arbitration on Friday after they announced a two-year contract extension worth $4.5 million ($2.25 million AAV) for the Russian forward. The 26-year-old made his NHL debut last season after signing out of the KHL and succeeded in his first taste of the big leagues with 10 goals, 35 points, and 39 PIMs in 77 games played. He is expected to take on a bigger role in his second season with the Islanders in 2025-26.

Calgary has signed Yan Kuznetsov to a two-year, two-way contract extension.

Calgary added to its depth on Thursday with a trio of signings, including Yan Kuznetsov, whom the Flames signed to a two-year, two-way contract extension. The 23-year-old was Calgary's 2020 2nd-round pick (50th overall) and has appeared in just one NHL game since joining the Flames organization in 2020-21 from the University of Connecticut (NCAA). He is expected to start 2025-26 with the Calgary Wranglers (AHL), where he had six goals and 21 points in 72 games last season.

Yan Kuznetsov
Calgary has signed Rory Kerins to a one-year, two-way contract.

Kerins was part of a trio of signings that Calgary made on Thursday as the 23-year-old was brought back for another season on a one-year, two-way contract. The 23-year-old was Calgary's 2020 6th-round pick (174th overall) and made his NHL debut in 2024-25, picking up an eye-opening four assists in just five games played. He will battle for one of Calgary's final roster spots in training camp this season after an impressive 2024-25 campaign with the Wranglers (AHL), where he put up 33 goals and 61 points in 63 games played.

Rory Kerins
Calgary has signed Sam Morton to a one-year, two-way extension.

Morton made his NHL debut in 2024-25 with one goal in one game and has earned himself a one-year, two-way extension to remain in Calgary for the upcoming season. The undrafted 25-year-old spent his first full professional season with the Calgary Wranglers (AHL) in 2024-25, picking up 20 goals and 45 points in 70 games played.

Calgary has signed Morgan Frost to a two-year contract extension worth $4.375 million AAV ($8.75M total).

After being acquired mid-way through the 2024-25 season by Calgary, Morgan Frost seems to have found a new home after signing a two-year contract extension worth $4.375 million AAV ($8.75M total) to remain with the Flames on Wednesday. The 26-year-old saw his average ice time increase by 1:20 after joining Calgary and ended his 2024-25 campaign with 14 goals and 37 points in 81 games played.

Morgan Frost
The Flames have signed Joel Hanley to a two-year deal worth $1.75M AAV ($3.5M total)

After posting a career high in points (9) in his 10th NHL season in 2024-25, Joel Hanley has earned himself a two-year, $3.5 million contract extension ($1,750,000 AVV) to remain with Calgary. The 34-year-old will provide Calgary with some much-needed defensive depth next season after collecting two goals, nine points and 21 PIMs in 53 games played last season.
