The Flames re-signed Mikael Backlund to a three-year deal worth $10.725M.

Backlund, 26, missed 30 games in 2014-15 after undergoing abdominal surgery in late-October. Backlund is a strong two-way forward who plays in all situations for the Flames.

Kadri will be a healthy scratch for the next two games.

Kadri was scratched from Monday's game against the Islanders and he will also be a healthy scratch in tonight's game vs. Buffalo and Friday's game in Calgary. It was speculated that Kadri was scratched because he was late for a team meeting, but Leafs president Brendan Shanahan said "there's more to this [then being late for a meeting]."

Kadri (lower-body) was a full participant in Tuesday’s practice.

Kadri was expected to miss 7-10 days which would have suggested that he would miss tomorrow’s game but his full availability this morning is a good sign he should play. He skated on the second line with Mike Santorelli and Daniel Winnik this morning.
