Andersen will start Game 1 against the Panthers.

The Hurricanes are well-rested heading into Game 1 on Tuesday, having played the fewest games of all teams remaining in the playoffs after eliminating the Washington Capitals on Thursday in five games. Andersen has been terrific this postseason, posting a stellar 1.36 GAA, .937 SV%, and one shutout in nine games (7-2), and will return to the crease for Game 1. Nikishin will slot in for Jalen Chatfield, who is out with an undisclosed injury. Nikishin was Carolina's third-round pick, 69th overall, in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 23-year-old Nikishin has spent the previous few seasons in the KHL. He scored 46 points (17G / 29A) in 61 games with St. Peterburgh SKA (KHL) this season.

Ehlers (lower-body) is on the ice for warmups and is expected to play in Game 6.

Ehlers has been out since April 12th with a lower-body injury he suffered in a collision with a referee in Chicago. His return comes at a perfect time because the Jets are missing Mark Scheifele due to an undisclosed injury he suffered in Game 5. Before getting hurt, Ehlers was having one of the best seasons of his career, scoring 24 goals with 39 assists (63 points) in 69 games.

Ehlers has only played twice in the last fours weeks but will make his 2024-25 playoff debut on Friday in Game 6. The Jets lead their series 3-2 over the St. Louis Blues and have been cautious with Ehler's return to the lineup after reaggravating an injury after attempting to return late in the season. The 29-year-old Ehlers scored 63 points (24G / 39A) in 63 games this season.
