After a slow start to the season, the Hurricanes are in the midst of a three-game winning streak and will likely turn to Andersen for his second consecutive start. In his last two games (2-0-0), Andersen has saved 50 of 54 shots (.926 SV%) and appears to be returning to form after posting a .855 SV% in his first three appearances (2-0-0). Despite their recent success, the Hurricanes are slight +100 road underdogs as they visit the 7-2-0 New York Rangers, who have outscored their opposition 17-7 during a five-game winning streak.

Stastny was a valuable fantasy asset for almost the entirety of his 17-year career, with his production tailing off only in recent seasons. The 27-year-old scrappy left-winger signed a one-year, $800,000 contract in the offseason with Carolina and has one goal, four SOG, 31 PIMs, and a -2 plus/minus in seven games played so far in 2023-24.

Svechnikov will make his season debut tonight after suffering a knee injury and subsequent season-ending knee surgery late last season. Svechnikov, who has missed the Hurricanes' first eight games of the season, might be eased into the lineup after missing a significant amount of time but should find himself back in the top-six and top powerplay unit before long. The 23-year-old winger had 55 points (23G / 32A) in 64 games last season.

Andersen has not played since October 17th due to a upper-body injury but did back up Pyotr Kotchetkov on Tuesday and will start Thursday vs. Seattle. The 34-year-old veteran is undefeated at 2-0-0 despite his unimpressive .855 SV% and 4.14 GAA. He will face the Seattle Kraken Thursday, who have won two of their last three games but rank 28th in the NHL in goals per game (2.29).

Kochetkov has been reassigned to the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL after making appearances in three consecutive games for the Hurricanes. In those three games (0-3-0), Kotchetkov was unremarkable, as has been the entire Hurricanes roster to start the season, posting a 4.33 GAA and .836 SV%. The Hurricanes will turn back to the tandem of Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta in between the pipes.

The Hurricanes will welcome Aho back into their lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Aho has missed the last three games after suffering an upper-body injury. He has three points (1G / 2A) and eight shots while averaging 21:00 time-on-ice through three games this season. He will immediately retake his place on the Hurricanes' first line and top power-play unit.

Kochetkov will be looking for a bounce-back performance after giving up six goals on only 28 shots in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Avalanche. Widely considered to be Carolina's goalie of the future, the 24-year-old netminder will need to find his game quickly if he's going to take advantage of Antti Raanta's slow start and the injury to Freddie Andersen (upper-body). He's not the safest start on the slate, but Kochetkov and the Hurricanes are still favoured (-130) to pick up a road victory over the Lightning tonight.

To everyone's surprise, Hall missed only one game and returned to the lineup. Three games later, Hall seems to have reaggravated his shoulder injury and is once again going to be week-to-week because of it. Hall has played primarily with Connor Bedard this season and has two points (0G / 2A) and seven shots in five games. The Blackhawks might welcome Philipp Kurashev back into their lineup on Tuesday, which would help replace Hall on the roster.
