Fan favourite Jordan Martinook will remain in Carolina after the Hurricanes signed the 10-year veteran to a three-year extension worth $9.15 million ($3.05M AAV). The 31-year-old Hurricanes' assistant captain surpassed the 30+ point plateau for a second straight season in 2023-24 as he ended the campaign with 14 goals and 32 points in 82 games played.

The Hurricanes are expected to sign Eric Robinson to a one-year deal worth $950K.

Robinson spent 2023-24 between Columbus and Buffalo but has signed a one-year deal to join Carolina worth $950,000. The 29-year-old role-player never really settled into Buffalo during his brief tenure as he had two goals and nine points in 40 games after joining the Sabres early in the season.

The Bruins signed Brandon Bussi to a one-year, two-way contract.

Bussi finished his third professional season at 23-10-5 with a 2.67 GAA, .913 SV% and one shutout in 41 games with the Providence Bruins (AHL). Bussi figured to become Jeremy Swayman's backup next season following the Linus Ullmark trade, but with Joonas Korpisalo coming the other way, he may have to continue waiting. The two-way contract will allow the Bruins to have that flexibility.

The Hurricanes have signed Ty Smith to a one-year, two-way contract.

Carolina added to its defensive depth over the weekend as they signed 24-year-old offensive defenseman Ty Smith to a one-year, two-way contract. The puck-moving defenseman has 47 points in 123 career NHL games played but last appeared in the NHL with Pittsburgh all the way back in 2022-23. He spent all of 2023-24 with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) and had nine goals and 43 points in 63 games played.

Carolina has re-signed Jalen Chatfield to a three-year, $9 million contract extension ($3,000,000 AAV).

Carolina has solidified their top-four defensemen heading into the 2024-25 season after they resigned Jalen Chatfield to a three-year, $9 million contract extension ($3,000,000 AAV) on Friday. The 28-year-old shutdown defensemen hit career highs in multiple categories in 2023-24, including goals (8), assists (14), points (22) and average TOI/GP (15:11) in 72 games this season.

Kochetkov will start Game 3 vs. the Rangers.

Kochetkov will play for the first time since April 14th but had a very impressive season, going 23-13-4 with a 2.33 GAA, .911 SV% and four shutouts. As good as Kochetkov has been in regular season play, he's struggled in his brief playoff career, going 1-3 with a 4.31 GAA and .858 SV%. Despite the goaltending change, the Hurricanes remain -148 home favourites on Thursday.

Carolina has signed Ruslan Khazheyev to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Khazheyev was Carolina's 2023 fifth-round pick (158th overall) and has signed a three-year, entry-level contract starting in 2024-25. The 19-year-old Russian netminder enjoyed a strong season with Belye Medvedi Chelyabinsk (MHL), with his .927 SV% and 2.19 GAA in 28 games played.

Seeley has been recalled from Chicago (AHL) on Thursday.

With Carolina in need of extra playoff roster players and Chicago (AHL) no longer needing his services, Ronan Seeley has been recalled to the Hurricanes on Thursday. The 21-year-old defenseman was Carolina's 2020 7th-round pick (208th overall) and had two goals and 14 points in 58 games played with Chicago this season.

Fast (upper body) did not practice and is doubtful for Game 1 on Saturday.

Fast was limited to only 6:53 time-on-ice before exiting the Hurricanes' season finale on Tuesday, a 6-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, due to an upper-body injury. The 32-year-old Fast scored 19 points (6G / 13A) in 73 games this season.

Primeau will take the crease for the second half of Montreal's back-to-back with Detroit on Tuesday in Montreal. The 24-year-old took a big step forward in 2023-24 with career highs in almost all statistical categories such as .910 SV%, 2.95 GAA, and two shutouts to go along with his 8-9-3 record. He hosts the desperate Detroit Red Wings for game 82, who need another victory on Tuesday to have a shot at making the playoffs.

The Hurricanes play their final game of the season on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets and have opted to rest a variety of their lineup regulars. Svechnikov has had a season frustrated by a myriad of injuries but ends the 2023-24 campaign with 52 points (19G / 33A) in 59 games.
