Lemieux had one goal in nine games with the Jets last season. The 22-year-old winger is expected to replace Kristian Vesalainen in the lineup and showcased his offensive upside with 19 goals and 24 assists (43 points) in 51 games with the Manitoba Moose (AHL) last year.
Andersen did not dress for Monday’s game vs. the Kings, but head coach Mike Babcock said that Andersen will start Thursday vs. Pittsburgh. Returning to the ice on Tuesday is a good sign that Babcock’s plan is still on-track.
Stastny was picked up this offseason to stabilize the Golden Knights’ second line, but it looks like that duty will fall on Erik Haula until mid-December. Stastny “will be out for a bit, potentially up to two months” according to head coach Gerard Gallant. This will allow someone like Alex Tuch to move back into the top-6 right away as soon as he is healthy.
Andersen allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Maple Leafs win in Detroit on Thursday. Andersen has won three of his first four starts of the season despite allowing a combined 13 goals on 122 shots (.893 SV%). Tonight he faces a Capitals team that he had mixed results against last season—one shutout and one six-goals against game.
Dzingel was a game-time decision for the last two games, but it looks like the lower-body injury has finally caught up to him. Dzingel lands on IR, so he will miss at least one week. Nick Paul was recalled from Belleville (AHL) to take Dzingel’s spot on the roster.
Andersen allowed four goals on 34 shots in the Maple Leafs win in Dallas on Tuesday. Despite allowing a combined 10 goals on 93 shots (.892 SV%) in his first three starts, the Maple Leafs offence has carried Andersen to a 2-1-0 record. He is a must-start against a Red Wings team that is still searching for their first win of the season.
Dzingel was a game-time decision on Monday, but ended up playing and scoring two goals. He was not on the ice again this morning, so he’s questionable for tonight’s meting with the Flyers. It sounds like it is a very similar situation to Monday and the young winger should be expected to play.
Stastny suffered a lower-body injury during the third period of the Golden Knights’ loss to the Sabres on Monday. The veteran centre will miss the rest of the road-trip and be re-evaluated when Vegas returns home. Cody Eakin will return to the lineup and make his season debut with Stastny out.
Stastny got dumped late in the third period of Monday’s loss to the Sabres and appeared to come up lame. Stastny was cut-down low and didn’t practice on Tuesday, so his status for Wednesday’s game is up in the air. If Stastny is out, Erik Haula is expected to move to centre and Tomas Nosek will play on the second line.
Andersen gave up four goals on 23 shots in the Maple Leafs loss to the Senators on Saturday. He was given Sunday night off, so will be back between the pipes tonight in Dallas. The Stars have had a great start to the season, so Andersen is a risky start on the road—he was 15-13-3 with a 3.00 GAA and .910 SV% in 31 starts on the road last year.
Dzingel left Sunday’s practice early and his status for Monday’s game is up in the air. Monitor his status when the Senators hit the ice for warmups at 12:30pm ET. He is projected to play with Matt Duchene and rookie Brady Tkachuk if he is able to play.
Andersen stopped 34 of 36 shots in the Maple Leafs overtime win over the Canadiens on Wednesday. It was a great way to start the season for Andersen, who struggled during October last year. He was 2-2-0 with a 3.80 GAA and .862 SV% vs. the Senators last year, but they are not the same team this season.
Andersen put a rough October behind him last year and ended up finishing the season with 38 wins in 66 starts while posting a 2.81 GAA, .918 SV% and five shutouts. Andersen draws a fantastic opening night matchup vs. a torn down Montreal team that he was 3-0 with a 1.66 GAA, .950 SV% and one shutout against last season.
The Blues traded up to No.25 in this summer’s draft to select Bokk. The German left winger tore up Sweden’s U20 league, picking up 41 points (14G / 27A) in 35 games before moving to the top league. Playing against men, Bokk had just one goal and one assist in 15 games, but will likely have a full season in that league in 2019.
Stastny elected not to re-sign with the Jets, who acquired him from St. Louis at last year’s deadline. Stastny finished the 2018 season with 16 goals and 37 assists (53 points) in 82 games. Stastny will line up as the Golden Knights’ second-line centre behind 2018 breakout star William Karlsson.
