Khudobin allowed two goals on 17 shots in the Stars win over the Predators on Sunday. Khudobin opened up the season with back-to-back wins over Nashville, stopping 49 of the 51 shots (.961 SV%) that he's faced so far. The Hurricanes played in Nashville on Monday and had just one player n the COVID-19 protocol list and that was Jordan Staal. Depending on when Khudobin gets his visa issues cleared up and arrives in Dallas, he could be in danger of missing the start of the regular season. He will be forced to quarantine for seven days once he arrives in Dallas. With Ben Bishop expected to be out until March, Khudobin will be leaned on to serve as the Stars No.1 netminder for at least a month and a half.
Welinski played the entire 2020 campaign in Lehigh Valley (AHL), where he had eight goals and 13 assists (21 points) in 42 games. Brodie has tremendous mobility and is a quality puck-moving defenseman that can play both sides. Brodie is coming off of a down year, registering 19 points (4G / 15A) in 64 games. After being allowed to hit the open market, Khudobin circled back and re-signed with the Stars. At the age of 34 and after an 11-year career, this is the longest contract that he's ever signed. A season ago, Khudobin led the NHL with a .930 SV% and and had a 2.69 GAA and .917 SV% in 25 playoff starts during the Stars run to the Stanley Cup Finals. Given Ben Bishop's injury history, Khudobin figures to a get a good number of starts again in 2021, making him a low-end No.2/high-end No.3 fantasy netminder.
