Weber made the trip to Washington with teammates on Friday afternoon and could return to action against the Capitals Saturday after a three-game absence.

“Today was a good day,” said Weber, who suffered the injury in a 3-0 loss to Edmonton on Thanksgiving night. “It was good to be back out there with the guys and skate with them and hopefully move forward going ahead this week.” Weber’s playing status will be determined this morning, coach Barry Trotz said. “When he gets up in the morning and we can do our meetings and all, I’m sure I’ll know at that point,” he said.

Shaw (undisclosed) will not play tonight but is "close" to returning, so Sunday seems like a possibility.

Shaw will miss his second straight game after being injured late in Tuesday's contest vs. the Stars. Monitor his status prior to Sunday's game. He has eight goals, nine assists and a plus-10 rating in 29 games.

Weber (eye) will skate tomorrow with the team and will travel to Washington and New York.

Weber will wear a visor when he returns to action, whether or not that is Saturday in Washington remains to be seen. He will miss his third consecutive game tonight and should be considered questionable for the weekend, but monitor his status closely because if he plays he should be activated in all formats. Weber is tied for the NHL lead in goals by defesemen with seven.

Shaw will not travel with Chicago to take on Minnesota.

Shaw was crunched into the boards in the late stages of Tuesday's loss to the Stars. Shaw was slow to get up and will not play Thursday. There is no word on how serious the injury is, but explains why the Blackhawks recalled two forwards this morning, while only sending one down.

No sign of Shea Weber (face) at the Predators morning skate, which means no Weber vs. the Flyers.

Weber took a puck in the face on Thursday and did not return to the game. The injury was near his eye which is always a scary scene, especially when it is your team's best player. He has been listed as day-to-day by the Predators so he is not expected to be out long-term at this point. Seth Jones will likely slide onto the top-pair with Roman Josi while Weber is sidelined.

Connor Murphy who was just recalled from Portland (AHL) was on the ice this morning and will play tonight.

The Coyotes placed Rostislav Klesla on waivers yesterday, he cleared so likely going to the AHL, so Murphy will be in the lineup tonight. Murphy played 22:32 and scored his first career goal in his NHL debut on November 16. He scored in the NHL before he scored in the AHL, posting five assists in 12 games with Portland.

The Coyotes have recalled Connor Murphy from Portland (AHL).

Murphy was the 20th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft. The 20-year-old played two seasons in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting posting 44 points (14 G / 30 A) in 68 games. This season he has five assists in 10 games with Portland. He will enter the lineup with Derek Morris and Zbynek Michalek unlikely to play.

Shaw's two-year extension is worth $2 million per year.

Bishop allowed two goals on 27 shots in an OT win over the Red Wings on Saturday. It was his fourth consecutive win and his league leading 11th of the season. Tonight he faces a Canadiens team who have lost four of their last five. It could become tougher for Bishop to win games with Steven Stamkos out of the lineup.

Blackhawks agree to two-year contract extension with Andrew Shaw.

Shaw, who would have been a restricted free agent following this season, is now signed through 2015-16. He’s currently making $577,500, but is due for a significant raise after playing a major role in the Hawks’ run to the Stanley Cup in the spring. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately known. Twice passed over in the NHL draft, Shaw finally was taken by the Hawks in the fifth round of the 2011 draft. He has 25 goals and 24 assists and a plus-11 rating in 103 career regular-season games.

Khudobin continues off-ice work. May get back to practice in another week or so Muller says.

Khudobin was originally expected to be back before Cam Ward, but Ward has resumed skating and Khudobin has not. He would have had a chance to be the Hurricanes number-1 for a shot period of time, but he remains week-to-week and will be Ward's backup when he returns.
