Necas will make his NHL debut in Edmonton on Tuesday.
Necas was the No.12 overall pick this summer and sat out the first three games of the season, but will make his debut tonight in Edmonton. Necas is a gifted offensive player, who collected 15 points (7G / 8A) in 41 games with Brno Kometa of the Czech league last season. Necas likely won’t stick with the Hurricanes, but he will get a chance to get some NHL experience under his belt and could see a handful of games. He has a some intrigue in daily contests tonight because he will be playing with Sebastian Aho and Elias Lindholm—a very dynamic trio that could make some noise vs. Oilers’ backup Laurent Brossoit.
Schwartz missed Monday’s practice with food poisoning.
Schwartz was held off of the ice on Monday because of a bout of food poisoning. Lucky for Schwartz owners, the Blues are off until Wednesday so there’s a chance that he won’t miss any games. Monitor his status before Wednesday’s contest.
MacKinnon (eye) will be in the Avalanche lineup on Saturday.

Kulak will be a healthy scratch in the Flames season opener.
Kulak, who had 10 points (2G / 8A) in 22 AHL games and three assists in 21 NHL games a season ago was expected to be in the opening night lineup, but Matt Barkowski will get the first crack alongside Michael Stone tonight.
Juulsen will be out for six weeks with a fractured foot.
Juulsen was a first-round pick of the Canadiens’ in 2015 and had a chance to crack the opening night roster this October. Juulsen, who had 34 points (12G / 22A) in 49 games with Everett (WHL) last year, had earned preseason praise from Claude Julien but will now likely start the year with St. John’s (AHL).

The Hurricanes signed Martin Necas to a three-year, entry-level contract on July 14th.

Necas has high-end offensive ability and registered 15 points (7G / 8A) in 41 games en route to a Championship with HC Kometa Brno of the Czech Republic’s top league. Necas has great speed and creativity and brings a ton of compete to the Hurricanes' farm system.
The Avalanche make Cale Makar the 4th overall pick in the NHL Draft.
Makar led all AJHL defensemen in goals (24), assists (51) and points (75) while suiting up in 54 games for the Brooks Bandits. Makar is a strong skater with great vision and should excel as a puck-moving/offensive defenseman in the NHL.
Nelson (upper-body) will return to the Islanders lineup on Thursday.

The Blackhawks have recalled Vince Hinostroza from Rockford (AHL).

The Flames have sent Brett Kulak to Stockton (AHL).
Kulak appeared in the last three games and six of the last nine, but with the Flames signing Matt Bartkowski to a deal this week, Kulak heads back to the AHL where he has five points (1G / 4A) in 11 games this season.
Kulak (illness) will be back in the Flames lineup on Tuesday.
Kulak has been battling an illness and has sat out for the last three games, but he will replace Jyrki Jokipakka in the lineup tonight in Pittsburgh. Kulak has just three assists in 18 games with the Flames this season.

Schwartz missed Sunday's practice with an illness, but is expected to play in the Winter Classic vs. the Blackhawks. Schwartz is expected to skate on a line with Jori Lehtera and Vladimir Tarasenko and comes in with 12 goals and nine assists (21 points) in 33 games.
Landeskog (lower-body) is expected to return to the Avalanche lineup on Saturday.
Landeskog has been sidelined for 10 games, but it looks like he’ll be back in the lineup tonight in Montreal. In his first 15 games of the season, Landeskog collected eight points (4G / 4A) and should jump onto a line with Nathan MacKinnon.
