The Flames have clinched a roster spot and it looks like Monahan will be the latest forward to be rested. Mikael Backlund is expected to replace him in the lineup and Derek Ryan will skate on the first line.

Smith was a healthy scratch on Monday but will replace Filip Chytil as a forward on Wednesday. Smith had one assist and eight PIMS as a forward in Philadelphia on Sunday.

Heinen played through an illness on Sunday but will be replaced by Chris Wagner on Tuesday.









Aston-Reese will not play on Tuesday with what is believed to be a hip issue. Teddy Blueger will move up and skate on the second-line with a Joseph Blandisi replacing him on the fourth-line.

Jenner missed the Blue Jackets morning skate and will not play against the Islanders. Eric Robinson will suit up and skate with Nick Foligno and Josh Anderson.

Aston-Reese departed Sunday’s game with a hip injury after playing 8:25 TOI but it is believed that the injury “isn’t real serious.” Aston-Reese has been playing well in an elevated role, picking up six points (2G / 4A) while averaging 14:21 TOI/gp in his last 13 games.

Jaros will miss Thursday’s game against the Islanders and will likely miss Saturday’s game in Boston.

With Olli Maatta out long-term and both Kris Letang and Brian Dumoulin getting banged up on Saturday, the Penguins were in the market for a defenseman. The game may be a little fast for Gudbranson in 2019 but he brings a big, rugged style of play to a Penguins blueline that is really thin right now.
