Dallas Stars News

The Wild have loaned Mathew Dumba back to Portland (WHL) for the remainder of the season.

Dumba's demotion will allow him to develop at further at the junior level. He did not exactly dominate the World Junior Championships, so his return to the WHL is likely a good idea for the 19-year-old's development into an everyday NHL defenseman.

Petrovic (upper-body) will not travel with the Panthers on their upcoming three-game road-trip.

Petrovic was injured in Saturday's game vs. the Predators. Petrovic has played in the last five games since being recalled. He has been held off the score sheet, but had a plus-4 rating. He joins Dylan Olsen and Erik Gudbranson as injured Panthers defensemen. Expect Mike Mottau to slide into the lineup, unless the Panthers decide to recall another defenseman.

Seguin (flu) is on the ice for the Stars morning skate.

Seguin missed practice on Friday because of the flu, but his presence at the morning skate suggests that he is good-to-go and will be in the lineup tonight vs. the Red Wings. Seguin has two goals and two assists in his last two games and has totalled 41 points (21G / 20A) in 38 games.

The Panthers have recalled Alex Petrovic from San Antonio (AHL).

Petrovic was the 36th overall pick in 2010. The 6-foot-4 defenseman skated in his first six NHL games with the Panthers last year. In 30 games with San Antonio this season, Petrovic has two goals and 11 points with a plus-6 rating.

Seguin (concussion) has officially been medically cleared and will be in the lineup tonight vs. Toronto.

You might remember the Maple Leafs trading the first round pick (that turned out to be Seguin) another first and a second to the Bruins for Phil Kessel. Since that trade there has been a lot of history between Seguin and the Maple Leafs. On top of that he was born 45 minutes away from Toronto in Brampton, Ontario. Since his four-goal game against Calgary on November 14, Seguin has just one assist in five games. He missed two games with the concussion, but will rejoin Rich Peverly and Jaime Benn on the Stars top line tonight.

Tyler Seguin (concussion-like symptoms) skated this morning at Air Canada Centre and looked great, but he still is a game-time decision because he has to follow NHL protocol and pass a baseline test.

Because of that, Seguin was not made available to the media. However, linemate Jamie Benn did say he is hopeful Seguin can return. “I think it would be a huge deal,” Benn said with a smile. “He’s a good player. He can definitely help us.” Monitor Seguin's status in warmups.

Seguin is skating this morning. Stars public relations says he still has to be tested after the morning skate and won't be available for comment.

Seguin reportedly skated really hard for 45 minutes on Wednesday and is practicing again this morning, so there is definitely a chance that Seguin could return tonight. It is a big game for Seguin, who has a lot of history with the Maple Leafs and he is from nearby Brampton, Ontario. Monitor his status prior to puck-drop.

Tyler Seguin
Tyler Seguin (concussion) just practiced 45 minutes with coaches James Patrick and Curt Fraser and looked great.

Seguin is not available to the media due to the Stars concussion protocol, at this time there is no official update. Skating this morning is a good sign, as he works his way back in an attempt to be in the lineup tomorrow vs. Toronto. Monitor his status tomorrow morning.

Tyler Seguin will miss his second straight game with concussion-like symptoms when the Dallas Stars take on the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center Tuesday night.

Seguin, who was injured in Friday night’s game against the Blackhawks at American Airlines Center, is expected to skate with the Stars Wednesday in Toronto. “He’s doing well. He did really well yesterday. He’ll be one guy that could skate tomorrow and there’s a possibility he could play in Toronto (Thursday),” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “It’s really encouraging.”

Tyler Seguin
Tyler Seguin skated prior to practice today. Lindy Ruff said Seguin felt pretty good, team encouraged it may be "only a couple days."

Seguin missed Sunday's contest with concussion-like symptoms that he suffered on Friday. I think there is a small chance that Seguin plays tomorrow vs. Chicago and Thursday in Toronto is more likely. There is a lot of history with Seguin and the Maple Leafs and being from nearby Brampton, Ontario I'm sure Seguin wants to suit up for that contest.

Minnesota Wild rookie Matt Dumba has been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship. He is one 25 players invited to the camp.

Dumba is the only NHL player on Team Canada's World Junior roster and he has been loaned to the team by the Wild. Dumba has been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp for the last two seasons, and was the final cut both years, that won't happen this year...

Tyler Seguin (muscle issue) a game time decision for tonight.

Seguin's "muscle issue" limited him in practice this week but he was able to play through it on Friday. He has gone cold since scoring four goals vs. Calgary on November 14, recording just one assist in his last five games and nothing in his last four. Don't expect this dry spell to last long, but monitor his status at 5:30 pm EST when the Stars hit the ice for warm-ups.

Duchene (oblique) is a game-time decision tonight .

It seems unlikely that Duchene will return tonight, but the status of "game-time decision" leaves the door open for him to improve as the day goes on. If he does not play it will be the fourth straight game that he will miss, but Friday seems like a definite possibility at this point. Monitor his status during pre-game warm-ups.

Matt Duchene
Duchene (oblique) was a full participant in Colorado's practice today, but remains doubtful to play Wednesday.

Duchene appears set to miss his fourth straight game with an oblique injury that he suffered on November 16. Monitor his status following Wednesday's morning skate in case his oblique drastically improves overnight, but it appears like Friday at Minnesota is a more likely return date.

Matt Duchene
Duchene (oblique) skated with the Avalanche today.

Duchene was on the ice in a non-contact jersey with the team today, but skated on his own. Duchene was only expected to miss a week so there is a chance he could play on Wednesday vs. St. Louis. He will need to shed the non-contact jersey and be a full participant in Tuesday's or Wednesday's practice if he is going to play.
