Mrazek will start Friday vs. the Predators.

Mrazek stopped 31 of 32 shots in the Red Wings’ win over the Senators on Monday. Jimmy Howard got the nod on Wednesday, but they’ll go back to Mrazek tonight vs. the Predators. Mrazek has played well to start the year, but the Red Wings’ haven’t played all that great in front of him—he’s faced an average of 32 shots against per game.

Talbot will be in goal on Thursday vs. the Blues.

Talbot allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Oilers’ win over the Hurricanes on Tuesday. Talbot has won three of his first four starts while posting a 3.92 GAA and .886 SV% and will make his fifth consecutive start tonight vs. the Blues. St. Louis comes into the game at 3-0-1 and they are averaging 3.00 goals per game.

Talbot will start Tuesday vs. the Hurricanes.

Talbot was yanked in Sunday’s game only to return to replace the injured Jonas Gustavsson. He ended up finishing the night with six goals against on 23 shots in a losing effort. Talbot has given up 13 shots in three games while posting a 2-1-0 record and .869 SV%. Things shouldn’t get any easier tonight vs. a Hurricanes team that has started 0-0-2, but scored seven goals in their efforts.

Mrazek leads the Red Wings onto the ice for warmups.

Mrazek allowed three goals on 37 shots in the Red Wings’ 4-1 loss in Florida on Saturday. Mrazek has faced an average of 36 shots per game and has posted a 4.06 GAA and .889 SV% in his first two starts. Mrazek’s numbers don’t tell the whole story. Detroit has left him out to dry and if it weren’t for Mrazek, the Lightning and Panthers would have had eight goals a piece.

Talbot will start Sunday vs. the Sabres.

Talbot allowed three goals on 35 shots in the Oilers win in Calgary on Friday. Talbot has won each of his first two starts of the season, despite allowing a combined seven goals on 76 shots (.908 SV%). Nonetheless, it has been nice start for Talbot and the Oilers, who draw a nice matchup tonight as there go up against a banged up Sabres team.

Cam Talbot
Talbot will start Friday in Calgary.

Talbot allowed four goals on 41 shots in the Oilers win over the Flames on Wednesday. It wasn’t Talbot’s best showing or an ideal start to the season, but it was enough for him to secure his first victory of the year. The Flames were extremely sloppy defensively which led to seven Oilers’ goals. He will see Calgary again tonight, this time on the road. He was 9-11-5 with a 2.55 GAA and .919 SV% on the road a season ago.

Cam Talbot
Mrazek will start Saturday in Florida.

Mrazek allowed five goals on 35 shots in the Red Wings’ 6-4 loss to the Lightning on Thursday. That stat line is no an accurate representation of how Mrazek played though. The 24-year-old made a number of highlight reel saves and if it weren’t for him, Detroit would have given up eight goals. Three of the five goals also came on the man advantage. Tonight he will face the Panthers, who he was 1-0-1 with a 0.99 GAA and .964 SV% against last season.

Petry (knee) is expected to play on Saturday.

Petry travelled with the team but didn’t play on Thursday, but he was back at practice on Friday and should be in the lineup on Saturday. Petry was practicing with Andrei Markov and will bump rookie Mikhail Sergachev from the lineup. Petry had 16 points (5G / 11A) in 51 games a season ago.

Motte expected to play with Patrick Kane and Artem Anisimov on Friday.

Motte picked up one assist in 12:16 in his NHL debut on Wednesday and will be rewarded by being bumped up to the second line tonight. In the Blackhawks’ morning skate, Motte skated with Kane in Anisimov, a spot usually reserved for Artemi Panarin, who was moved to the top line with Jonathan Toews. Marian Hossa was bumped out of the top-6—this is a look the Hawks gave in the preseason, let’s see how it works out in Nashville tonight.
