Cam Talbot will make his Senators' debut vs. the Canucks

Talbot was great in his only start of the season his last time out, taking the hard luck loss off a 26 save (.929 SV%) 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Talbot has been solid in two games since returning from injury, posting a .951 SV% and 1.40 GAA through nearly 90 minutes between the Senators pipes. He faces off against the Vancouver Canucks who have scored five or more goals in three of their last five games.

Talbot got his first taste of NHL action Thursday, stopping 13 of 13 shots in relief of Anton Forsberg in a loss after coming off the injured reserve with an upper-body injury. In 49 games last season, Talbot won 32 games while amassing a .911 SV% and three shutouts. He will face the Philadelphia Flyers who have lost their last three games after dropping a 5-2 contest to Toronto Wednesday.

Cam Talbot participated in full practice Friday

Talbot surprisingly returned to full practice Friday for the Ottawa Senators after missing the last few weeks due to a rib injury. Head Coach DJ Smith said "Talbot will come on the trip but won't play. He can skate and take shots each day on the trip." The 35-year-old netminder was acquired in the offseason for Filip Gustavsson after enjoying a 32-win season in Minnesota in 2021-22 while posting a .911 SV% and 2.76 GAA.

Talbot was spotted on the ice at Senators' practice taking shots alongside Anton Forberg after missing the last three weeks due to an upper-body injury. He is still a few weeks away from returning but it is a great sign for Ottawa's big offseason addition. He is currently sitting on 201 career wins with a .915 SV% through 396 career GP.

Gibson will start Thursday in Boston.

Gibson and the Anaheim defence have struggled mightily in his three starts as his 5.96 GAA is second last in the NHL supported by his low .872 SV%. The Ducks head to Boston to take on a 3-1-0 Bruins team coming off their first loss Tuesday in a 7-5 battle with the Ottawa Senators. Even without superstar Brad Marchand the Bruins are averaging 5.25 GF/G through their first four.

The Canucks have assigned Sheldon Dries to Abbotsford (AHL).

Dries did not appear in either of the Canucks first two games of the season and was sent to the AHL to make room for Noah Juulsen after Tucker Poolman was injured on Saturday. Dries had 35 goals and 27 assists (62 points) in 54 games with Abbotsford (AHL) last year.

Gibson enters Saturday's matchup against the New York Islanders 1-0-0 after an incredible opening night performance by the 10-year-veteran. The Ducks workhorse stood true to his title stopping 44 of 48 shots in Anaheim's 5-4 opening night overtime win against Seattle Wednesday. He will hope to face less action in his second start after finishing 2021-22 with the seventh most Shots Against (1789) throughout the NHL.
