van Riemsdyk (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Thursday.

van Riemsdyk fell awkwardly during Monday’s win over the Kings, missed Wednesday’s practice, but was on the ice for the morning skate and is officially listed as a game-time decision for tonight’s meeting with Carolina. van Riemsdyk will be replaced by Josh Leivo if he is unable to play.

It looks like van Riemsdyk avoided serious injury when he went down awkwardly on Monday, but was able to finish the game. He is likely a bit sore, which is why he didn’t practice today, but head coach Mike Babcock said that JVR should play tomorrow vs. Carolina.

Talbot was yanked after allowed four goals on 23 shots in the Oilers loss to the Senators last Saturday. Laurent Brossoit got the nod on Tuesday, so they’ll come back to Talbot tonight in Chicago. Talbot has gotten off to a dreadful start, posting a 3.96 GAA and .880 SV% in four starts.

Gibson was really busy in this one, but half firm and earned his second victory in four starts to begin the season. Gibson has a 2.79 GAA and .920 SV% so far and tonight he faces an Avalanche team that has gotten off to a surprisingly good start.

Talbot stopped all 26 shots in the Oilers shutout win over the Flames on opening night. Calgary didn’t really test last year’s leader in wins, making it a great start to 2017-18. Days off will be few and far between for Talbot, who will make his second start tonight in Vancouver—he is a must-start on most, if not all nights.
