Talbot will make his season debut in San Jose on Sunday.

David Rittich has started the first five games of the season but Talbot will make his Flames debut tonight in San Jose. The Flames have given up the sixth-most shots per game so far, so Talbot will likely be under siege against a Sharks team that is starting to find their way. Talbot was 11-17-3 with a 3.40 GAA and .892 SV% in 32 games with the Oilers and Flyers last year.

Mrazek will start Friday vs. the Islanders.

Mrazek stopped 10 of the 13 shots he faced in the Hurricanes 4-3 overtime win over the Lightning last Sunday. Carolina absolutely owned the puck in this game and it led to a slow night for Mrazek, who is now 2-0 despite an .878 SV% so far this season. He has been great in Carolina, going 14-5-1 with a .910 SV% in his last 20 starts at PNC Arena. He also has an inviting matchup vs. the Islanders who are averaging just 2.33 goals per game so far.

Campbell is the Kings' confirmed starter in Calgary.

Jonathan Quick started the season-opener in Edmonton but Campbell will make his season debut tonight in Calgary. The 27-year-old had a fantastic 2018-19 campaign, ranking third in the NHL in SV% (.928) and fifth in GAA (2.30) in 25 starts and six relief appearances. The Kings are likely going with Campbell against the Flames because he was 1-1-0 with a 0.46 GAA, .988 SV% and one shutout against them last year.

Mrazek will start the Hurricanes season opener vs. the Canadiens.

Mrazek split starts with Curtis McElhinney last year, going 23-14-3 with a 2.39 GAA and .914 SV% in 40 games. This year he should see a larger share of the games with James Reimer as his backup, but certainly won’t be among the league leaders. With a dominant 5v5 team in front of him, Mrazek will be a solid option on most nights. He was 12-5-1 with a 2.33 GAA, .914 SV% and two shutouts on home-ice last year.

Larkin (undisclosed) playing in the season opener is “a definite possibility.”

Larkin left Tuesday’s practice early but head coach Jeff Blashill said that the injury is not significant and he could play in Saturday’s opener. This is obviously huge news for the Red Wings, but monitor their No.1 centres status over the next few days.

Motte will miss two weeks with an upper-body injury.

Motte was set to skate on the Canucks fourth line in the season opener but will be replaced by Loui Eriksson. Motte will likely miss the first five or six games of the regular season but should travel on the Canucks east coast road-trip, which starts on October 17th.
