Kuemper will start Thursday in Florida.

Charlie Lindgren started in the Capitals' return from the All-Star break on Tuesday but did not finish the contest. Kuemper entered the game in relief of Lindgren, saving 15 of 17 shots (.882 SV%) in an eventual 5-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Kuemper has been wildly inconsistent this season, highlighted by his performances in his last two starts, in which he allowed five goals in one contest and recorded a shutout in the other. As such, the Capitals are sizeable +237 road underdogs heading into action against the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.

The Flames have acquired Andrei Kuzmenko, a 2024 first round pick, Hunter Brzustewicz, Joni Jurmo, a 2024 first-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth round pick from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Elias Lindholm.

Kuzmenko is on his way to Calgary as the key piece to the trade for Elias Lindholm after struggling to live up to the 39-goal season he posted as a rookie. Kuzmenko reportedly had to waive a no-trade clause in order to facilitate the deal, as the Flames were said to be on his 12-team no-trade list. The 27-year-old should be in line for a bigger role in Calgary after struggling to secure minutes in Vancouver's top-six this season. Kuzmenko scored eight goals and added 13 assists in 43 games for the Canucks this season while playing less than 15 minutes a night.

Byfield (illness) is expected to draw back into the Kings' lineup Wednesday in Nashville.

After missing two straight games with an illness, Byfield will draw back into the lineup for the Kings on Wednesday evening. Before his injury, Byfield was riding a three-game point streak, with four points (2G / 2A) while playing on the top line, as he has for most of the season, with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe.

Perry is expected to make his Oilers' debut Saturday vs. Nashville.

Perry hasn't played a game since his contract was terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks in late November. Before having his contract terminated, Perry was amid a somewhat resurgent start to the season, scoring nine points (4G / 5A) in 16 games. It is unlikely that Perry will continue his 0.56 point-per-game pace with the Oilers, as he is expected to skate on the third line with Dylan Holloway and Ryan McLeod.

Kuemper will start Tuesday at Minnesota.

Kuemper served as the backup for the last two Capitals' games but will return to the crease on Tuesday against his former club, the Minnesota Wild. Kuemper is 4-5-1 in his career against Minnesota, with a 2.78 GAA and .908 SV%, well below his career average. Taking that into consideration, along with the Capitals being shut out 3-0 to the St. Louis Blues in their last game, the Capitals are +147 road underdogs on Tuesday against the Wild, who are riding a two-game winning streak.
