Minnesota Wild News

Wallstedt will start in Edmonton on Tuesday.

Minnesota has been on a torrid pace lately, with points in 11 straight games (9-0-2), in part due to excellent tandem goaltending led by rookie Jesper Wallstedt. The 23-year-old Wallstedt has been nothing short of sensational lately, near perfect, posting an other-worldly 1.20 GAA, .967 SV%, and three shutouts in his last six games (6-0-0). He has a 1.93 GAA and .938 SV% in nine games this season (7-0-2).

Yurov will be out vs. Edmonton on Tuesday and is considered day-to-day.

Yurov is battling an undisclosed injury and will not play on Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers. The 21-year-old rookie, a first-round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, has seen prime deployment lately playing on a line with Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello. He has seven points (3G / 4A) in 21 games this season.

Wallstedt will start vs. Colorado on Friday.

After a poor start to the season, Minnesota has won six straight and skyrocketed up the Western Conference standings, led by superfluous goaltending. Wallstedt will tend the twine of Friday against the red-hot Colorado Avalanche, looking to improve on an outstanding run in November, where he has a near-perfect 0.99 GAA, .970 SV%, and three shutouts in five games (3-0-0). The 23-year-old rookie has a 1.94 GAA and .935 SV% in eight games this season (6-0-2).

Foligno (lower-body) has been placed on IR and is considered week-to-week.

Foligno was limited to only 7:28 time-on-ice in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, exiting the contest due to a lower-body injury. The 34-year-old Foligno has a -10 plus/minus and is off to the worst offensive start to his career, with only two points (0G / 2A) in 23 games.

Gustavsson will start in Chicago on Wednesday.

Whether it has been Jesper Wallstedt or Filip Gustavsson, Minnesota has received tremendous netminding lately, leading them to a five-game winning streak. The 27-year-old Gustavsson is coming off a 19-save shutout, his second of the season, in a 5-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Gustavsson has a 2.79 GAA and .902 SV% in 15 games (6-7-2) and will return to the crease on Wednesday against the Chicago Blackhawks. Minnesota enters the action as -128 road favorites against a Blackhawks team that has only scored six goals in its last three games (0-3-0).

Filip Gustavsson
Sturm (back) has been activated from IR.

The start to Sturm's tenure in Minnesota was delayed due to an injury that needed surgery before the start of the season, but he should make his Minnesota debut shortly, now that he has been activated from Injured Reserve. After winning a cup with Florida in 2024-25, Sturm signed a two-year, $4 million contract with Minnesota in the offseason. He is coming off a seven-goal, 14-point campaign across 62 games with both San Jose and Florida in 2024-25.

Gustavsson will start in Pittsburgh on Friday.

Minnesota is playing its best hockey of the season, 5-0-1 in its last six, largely due to the elite play of goalie Jesper Wallstedt, but the team will turn to Gustavsson on Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 27-year-old Gustavsson has a subpar 2.99 GAA and .897 SV% in 14 games this season (5-7-2), but has played much better lately, posting a 2.50 GAA and .909 SV% in his last six (3-2-1). Minnesota enters Friday's contest as +109 road underdogs against a rested Penguins team that has not played since Sunday.
