Cody Glass will be out 7-10 days with a lower-body injury.

Glass left the Predators' previous game vs. NYR early after just three shifts and 1:46 toI due to a lower-body injury and will now be out 7-10 days. The 24-year-old centre had yet to pick up a point this season in five games played, but has nine SOG and two PIMs. He is coming off a career campaign in 2022-23, where he had 14 goals, 21 assists, 20 PIMs and a +9 plus/minus in 72 games.

Jake Allen will start Saturday in Washington.

Allen will return to the crease for the first time since opening night when he allowed five goals on 42 shots in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sam Montembault has been between the pipes in the two games since but hasn't been significantly more effective in helping the Canadiens shut things down defensively. The Canadiens currently rank 25th in the league, allowing an average of 4.00 goals per game. Working in Allen's favour, he will be facing off against a Washington Capitals team that is off to an abysmal start. After three games (1-2-0), the Capitals rank dead-last offensively, averaging only 1.00 goals per game.

Riley Tufte has been reassigned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL).

Tufte signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Avalanche in the offseason but has failed to appear in either of their opening season wins which has lead to him being reassigned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) Monday. The 25-year-old returns to the AHL, where he had 19 goals, 15 assists, 90 PIMs, and a +23 plus/minus in 63 games with the Texas Stars (AHL) in 2022-23.

Riley Tufte
Anthony Mantha is expected to a be a healthy scratch Monday vs. Calgary.

Mantha's frustrating tenure with the Capitals continues as he is expected to be a healthy scratch on Monday night. He had zero points and failed to record a shot on goal in 11:52 time-on-ice in the Capitals' season-opener. He has 58 points (24G / 34A) in 119 games as a Capital and is expected to be replaced by Aliaksei Protas on the fourth line.

David Rittich has cleared waivers and been loaned to Ontario (AHL).

Rittich being loaned to the Ontario Reign of the AHL signifies that the Los Angeles Kings will begin their 2023-24 campaign with Cam Talbot and Phoenix Copley as their goaltending tandem. Rittch had a phenomenal preseason with the Kings, posting a 1.17 GAA and a .960 SV% in three appearances (2-0-0), and will be eager to get back to the NHL level if Copley falters early on.

Allen will start Wednesday in Toronto.

Allen had an underwhelming preseason, posting a 4.00 GAA and .854 SV% in two games (1-0-0) but will still begin the 2023-24 campaign as the starting goalie for the Montreal Canadiens. In 42 games last season (15-24-3), Allen posted career worsts in GAA (3.55) and SV% (.891), mirroring the Canadiens' 29th-ranked team defence that allowed an average of 3.72 goals per game. However, in his career against the Maple Leafs, Allen sports a respectable 2.60 GAA and .917 SV% in 18 appearances (8-7-0).

Winnipeg has signed Declan Chisholm to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000.

Chisholm had five goals, 38 assists, 21 PIMs, and a -13 plus/minus through 59 games with Manitoba (AHL) in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with Winnipeg. The 23-year-old defenseman was Winnipeg's 2018 fifth-round pick (150th overall) and has made two NHL appearances with the club, failing to pick up a point.

Boston has signed Jesper Boqvist to a one-year, $775,000 contract.

Boqvist had 10 goals, 11 assists, 67 SOG, two PIMs and a +8 plus/minus through 70 games with New Jersey in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with Boston. The 24-year-old centre was selected by New Jersey in the second-round of the 2017 NHL Draft (36th overall) and has collected 28 goals and 55 points across 189 games in four seasons in New Jersey.

New Jersey has signed Erik Kallgren to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000.

Kallgren was 3-2-4 with a .267 GAA and .898 SV% with Toronto in 2022-23 and has now signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with New Jersey. The 26-year-old goaltender was Arizona's 2015 seventh-round pick (183rd overall) and has a career NHL record of 11-6-5 S with a 3.04 GAA and .892 SV% across two seasons in Toronto.

Florida has signed Evan Rodrigues to a four-year, $12 Million contract ($3,000,000 AAV).

Rodrigues had 16 goals, 23 assists, 184 SOG, 30 PIMs and a +7 plus/minis through 69 games with Colorado in 2022-23 and has signed a four-year, $12 Million contract ($3,000,000 AAV) with Florida. The 29-year-old centre will be joining his third team in three years and has 69 goals, 99 assists, and 885 SOG across 385 career NHL games.

Evan Rodrigues
The Kings signed David Rittich to a one-year deal worth $875K.

Rittich was 9-8-1 with a 2.67 GAA and .901 SV% in 2022-23 as Nashville's backup goaltender and has signed a one-year deal worth $875,000 AAV with Los Angeles. The 30-year-old towering netminder will be joining his fifth team in four years and brings a record of 79-51-21 with a .904 SV% and 2.87 GAA to the Kings this season.

The Avalanche signed Riley Tufte to a one-year, two-way contract.

Tufte failed to pick up a point across three games with Dallas in 2022-23 but had a SOG and was a -1 plus/minus and has signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with Colorado. The 25-year-old left-winger was a former first-round pick (25th overall) in 2016 and has one career goal in 13 games played across two NHL seasons. He should provide a solid depth piece for Colorado after posting 19 goals and 35 points in 63 games with Texas (AHL) in 2021-22 as well.

The 24-year-old centre joined Nashville from Vegas in 2021-22 and has picked up 23 goals and 58 points across his 146 game career.

The Coyotes have signed Nick Bjugstad to a two-year contract worth $4.2 million ($2.1M AAV).

Bjugstad had 23 points (13G / 10A) in 59 games with Arizona last season before being traded to the Oilers at the deadline, where he added another six points (4G / 2A) in 19 games. The 6-6, 209 lbs. centre provides some stability and a veteran presence in the Coyotes middle-6, but has not had more than 29 points in a season since 2018.

The Oilers have signed Connor Brown to a one-year deal worth $775K.

Brown failed to pick up a point and was a -3 plus/minus through only four games with Washington in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year deal worth $775,000 with Edmonton. The 29-year-old's only season in Washington did not go as planned as he was forced to miss majority of the season due to ACL surgery. He will hope to comeback from the injury and add to his 90 goals, and 216 points across 448 career NHL games played.

Meier had 40 goals, 26 assists, 327 SOG, 43 PIMs and a -19 plus/minus through 78 games with both New Jersey and San Jose in 2022-23 and has Timo Meier has signed an eight-year, $70.4 Million ($8,800,000 AAV) contract extension. The 26-year-old right-winger was acquired by New Jersey at the trade deadline in 2022-23 that included four players and three draft-picks. He has amassed 163 goals and 330 points across 472 career NHL games played.
