Varlamov will start Thursday vs. the Hurricanes.

Varlamov allowed seven goals on 21 shots in Colorado’s blowout loss in Vegas last Friday. Varlamov had nearly one full week off prior to tonight’s start vs. the Hurricanes. After a nice start to the season, Varlamov has lost three of his last four starts while allowing a combined 16 goals on 127 shots (.874 SV%).

The Coyotes have recalled Hunter Miska from Tucson (AHL).

Miska, 22, has gone 3-0-0 despite posting a 4.02 GAA and .884 SV% in four games with Tucson this season. Miska getting called up suggests that Antti Raanta (lower-body) isn’t ready to go on Monday. Look for Miska to backup Scott Wedgewood, who will likely make his Coyotes debut tonight.

Varlamov allowed three goals on 37 shots in Colorado’s win over the Stars on Tuesday. Varlamov has gone 4-2-0 with a 2.34 GAA, .929 SV% and one shutout through his first six starts of 2017-18. Tonight he will take on a Vegas team that has surprisingly started the season at 7-1-0 while averaging 3.38 goals for per game.

Mayfield (undisclosed) will return to the Islanders lineup on Tuesday.

Mayfield missed Saturday’s game vs. San Jose, but will replace Dennis Seidenberg in the lineup tonight. Mayfield is averaging just 16:32 TOI/GM on the Islanders blueline and has picked up just one assist in six games, so look elsewhere in season-long leagues and daily contests.

Varlamov will start Tuesday vs. Dallas.

Varlamov gave up four goals on 34 shots in Colorado’s loss in Nashville last Tuesday. Jonathan Bernier started on Saturday, giving Varlamov exactly one week off. After starting the season at 3-0-0, Varlamov has lost his last two starts while allowing a combined six goals on 69 shots (.913 SV%). It’s been a strong start for the veteran netminder, but he draws a tough matchup with the Stars in town tonight.

Schneider will start Thursday in Ottawa.

Schneider allowed four goals on 37 shots in the Devils’ win over the Lightning on Tuesday. Schneider has won four of his first five starts while registering a 2.95 GAA and .917 SV%. Schneider has been getting a lot of goal support, something he is not accustom to. He is a solid option once again tonight in Ottawa.

Pulock will make his season debut on Thursday.

Pulock, 23, was a first round pick in 2013 and Islanders fans have been clamouring to get Pulock a full-time lineup spot, but he will make his season debut tonight as a seventh-defenseman. The 23-year-old had 46 points (15G / 31A) in 55 games with Bridgeport (AHL) last season but has just four points (2G / 2A) in 16 career NHL games. Pulock rotated with Johnny Boychuk on the top PP-unit in Wednesday’s practice.

The Russian netminder has started the year at 3-1-0 with a 1.76 GAA, .944 SV% and one shutout in four starts. He will take on a Nashville team that is tied for 19th in scoring (2.80 GF/PG).
