Schneider will start Thursday in Chicago.

Schneider allowed two goals on 28 shots in the Devils’ 2-0 loss to the Blues on Tuesday. Schneider once again performed at a high level, but he was out duelled by Jake Allen, who is scorching right now. Schneider has won seven of his first 12 starts while sporting a very strong 2.14 GAA and .923 SV%. There is no denying his talent, but the talent around him is questionable.

Schneider allowed two goals on 29 shots in the Devils win over the Blackhawks last Friday. Keith Kinkaid got the nod on Sunday, so Schneider will be back in goal tonight vs. the Blues. Schneider has won three of his last four while posting a 1.72 GAA and .940 SV%. However, he is a risky start vs. a red-hot Blues team.

Schneider stopped 32 of the 34 shots that he faced in the Devils loss in Brooklyn on Tuesday. Schneider has been great through his first nine starts, going 6-3-1 with a 2.16 GAA and .922 SV%. He won’t get a tonne of goal support this year, so he will need to be superb night in and night out if he’s going to win. He will be in tough tonight with the Blackhawks in town.

Varlamov will start Thursday in Arizona.

Varlamov allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Avs’ 6-3 win over the Flames on Tuesday. Varlamov has struggled through the first part of the season, but maybe an offensive explosion and a win will get the Avs going. Varlamov draws a strong matchup tonight—Mike Smith has been equally as bad, opening the door for lots of goal support.

Varlamov surrendered three goals on 31 shots in the Avs’ loss to the Kings on Sunday. After winning his second game of the season, Varlamov has dropped his last two starts while allowing a combined six goals on 57 shots (.895 SV%). Varlamov could make for a solid start tonight with at the Flames and their 24th ranked offence in town.

Schneider will start on Tuesday vs. the Islanders.

Schneider allowed two goals on 26 shots in the Devils shootout win over the Islanders on Saturday. The Devils were not expected to win a lot this season, but Schneider has won six out of his last seven starts while posting a 2.23 GAA and .913 SV% over that span. Tonight he will face the Isles again, but this time on the road. He catches a break with John Tavares likely out.

Varlamov leads the Avalanche onto the ice for warmups.

Varlamov allowed three goals on 26 shots in Colorado’s loss in Carolina on Friday. It was Varlamov’s second game in as many nights, so it wasn’t surprising to see him struggle vs. the Hurricanes. He has won just two of seven starts while posting a 3.36 GAA and .889 SV% this season.

Schneider made 27 saves on 28 shots in the Devils 4-1 win in Philadelphia on Thursday. Schneider has been red-hot as of late, winning five of his last six starts and posting a 2.30 GAA and. 911 SV% in the process. He draws a tough matchup tonight vs. the 6-2-2 Islanders who average 3.30 goals per game (t-5th in the NHL.)

Varlamov made 34 saves on 35 shots in the Avs’ win in Tampa Bay last night. After losing four of five and losing playing time to Reto Berra, Varlamov turned in a stellar performance last night and will go again tonight in Carolina. Starting him on back-to-back nights is risky, but it is nice to see Varlamov turn things around, at least for one game.

Schneider allowed three goals on 14 shots in the Devils 3-1 loss to the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. It was an ugly night for Schneider, who saw his four-game winning streak snapped. Despite the loss, the Devils will go back to Schenider tonight in Philly—Schneider enters play at 4-2-1 with a 2.39 GAA and .912 SV%.

Schneider has allowed three gaols on 29 shots in the Devils’ win over the Sabres on Saturday. Schneider has won four consecutive starts while posting a 2.43 GAA and .913 SV%. He has a chance to make it five in a row when he goes up against a Blue Jackets team that has started the season 1-8-0.

Varlamov stopped 18 of 19 shots in the Avs’ 1-0 overtime loss to the Hurricanes on Wednesday. Varlamov has lost three of his first four starts while posting a 3.89 GAA and .861 SV%. Tonight Varlamov draws a good matchup against a Blue Jackets team who has started the season 0-8-0.

Schneider allowed four goals on 39 shots in the Devils’ win over the Senators on Thursday. Schneider has won three straight games while posting a 2.24 GAA and .919 SV% over that span. On Saturday he has a good chance to make that four consecutive wins when he faces a Buffalo team who was spanked 7-2 on Friday.

Varlamov surrendered five goals on 19 shots in the Avs’ loss to the Bruins last Wednesday. He was terrible in his first three starts of the season, allowing a combined 13 goals on 82 shots (.841 SV%). He will look to turn things around tonight vs. a Hurricanes team who is 21st in the NHL, averaging 2.20 goals per game.
