The Devils will go back to him for the third time in four nights—he lost each of the two previous games despite stopping 62 of 66 shots (.939 SV%). He’ll be facing an Oilers team who was blown out twice on the weekend, being outscored 13-2.

Tonight he will make his 45th start of the season and his third against the Rangers. The 29-year-old has gone 2-0-0 with a 1.46 GAA and .950 SV% in his first two starts vs. New York.

Schneider allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Devils win over the Rangers on Tuesday. Schneider has won five of his last six starts while posting a 1.68 GAA, .946 SV% and one shutout. Schneider draws a tough matchup this afternoon with the Capitals in town—they come in as the NHL’s top team with a 36-9-4.

Schneider gave up two goals on 31 shots in the Devils loss in Pittsburgh last Tuesday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Schneider, who was 6-5-0 with a 1.83 GAA and .934 SV% in January. Tonight, he will face the Rangers for the second time this season—he stopped 26 of 27 shots in a 2-1 OT win in the first meeting back in October.

On Tuesday, Schneider will make his second start of the season vs. the Penguins—in the first meeting he stopped all 21 shots that he faced in a 4-0 shutout win.

Varlamov remained in Colorado to deal with civil suit; won't dress Tuesday.

Varlamov stayed in Colorado to deal with the civil suit against him from his ex-girlfriend. With Varlamov not going on the trip, Calvin Pickard is expected to start both games of the back-to-back and Roman Will has been called up to serve as his backup.

Varlamov stopped 33 of 34 shots in Colorado’s shootout win over the Blues last night. Varlamov has won three consecutive starts while posting a 0.98 GAA and .970 SV%. Tonight will be his third start without rest—he has gone 1-1-0 with a 2.04 GAA and .942 SV% in the first two. It is always risky to start a goalie on back-to-back nights, but even more so against the Stars.

Schneider allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Devils win over the Senators on Thursday. Schneider has won three straight games while posting a strong 1.67 GAA and .949 SV%. Schneider will get the nod tonight in Winnipeg—Schneider has been rock solid on the road this season, going 12-6-2 with a 1.88 GAA and .938 SV%.

Varlamov starts Friday vs. the Blues.

Varlamov allowed one goal on 28 shots in Colorado’s win over the Sabres on Wednesday. Varlamov has won two in a row while allowing just two goals on 65 shots (.969 SV%). Varlamov draws a tough matchup vs. the Blues who have won five of their last six games, including three in a row.

The Lightning suspended Jonathan Drouin indefinitely for failure to report to Wednesday's AHL game.

Drouin did not show up for Syracuse’s game on Wednesday and the Lightning have suspended the 20-year-old indefinitely. The Lightning will continue to try and trade Drouin for a fair price, so it looks like he has played his last game with Tampa or Syracuse.

Schneider made 26 saves on 28 shots in the Devils win over Calgary on Tuesday. Schneider has won three of his last four starts while posting a 1.26 GAA and .954 SV%. He has been the rock for the Devils all season and they’ve needed him to be especially good as of late because of all of their injuries. On Thursday he faces a Senators team that he is 2-0-0 with a 1.95 GAA and .947 SV% against this season.

Varlamov stopped 36 of 37 shots in Colorado’s win in Winnipeg on Monday. It was a nice bounce back for Varlamov, who had allowed eight goals in his previous two outings. Tonight Varlamov will take on a Sabres team that has rattled off four wins in their last five games—Varly is 5-3-2 with a 2.98 GAA ad .908 SV% in his last 10 starts on home ice.
