Varlamov will miss his fifth straight game when Calvin Pickard starts on Saturday, but Varly could make his first since November 15th on Monday vs. the Canadiens.

Varlamov’s designation on IR is retroactive to November 15th, which means he is eligible to be activated whenever he is healthy. They moved him to IR so they could recall Karl Stollery from Lake Erie without having to send anyone down.

Tonight will mark Horvat’s ninth game of the season and he is here to stay. There was some speculation that he might be available for Team Canada in the World Juniors this December, but that won’t be the case. Horvat has looked like he has belonged and picked up one goal and three assists in his last two games.

Schneider stopped all 29 shots that he faced in the Devils 2-0 win over the Oilers on Friday. On Saturday, he was finally given his first night off of the season. He will be back in goal on Tuesday against his former team in Vancouver. The Canucks have a strong offence, but this start should mean a little more to Schneider.

Schneider allowed three goals on 34 shots in the Devils 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Jets on Tuesday. Schneider enters play tonight at 8-8-2 at the quarter mark of the season. Tonight he is in Edmonton; he has gone 5-5-0 with 3.25 GAA and .898 SV% in 11 starts on the road.

Varlamov missed Tuesday’s practice after he re-injured his groin in Saturday’s win over the Devils. He missed time last month with a groin injury and he is listed as day-to-day this time around. Calvin Pickard has been recalled from Lake Erie to back-up Reto Berra.

Clutterbuck missed Saturday’s game with a lower-body injury, but will be back in for Cory Conacher tonight. He has just two points (1G / 1A) in 16 games.

Schneider has a poor GAA of 2.71 (ranked 32nd in the league) and owns an 8-7-2 record.

Schneider has won two in a row, including a 30 save shutout against the Captials Friday.

Semyon Varlamov will look to secure his 4th win of the season against the Devils. To this point, Varlamov is sporting a .918 save% and a 3.03 GAA in 12 games played.

Cory Schneider has started career high 16 consecutive games. This is the third longest start streak to open a season in Devils' history since Martin Brodeur played 17 straight in 2002-03. So far, Schneider is tied for 32nd in the NHL with a .904 save%.

Varlamov allowed six goals on 46 shots in the Avs' loss to the Islanders on Tuesday. It was a rough outing for Varly but Patrick Roy will give him a chance to bounce back right away on Thursday vs. the Rangers. He has a 3.05 GAA and .918 SV% in 11 games this season.

Schneider allowed four goals on 23 shots in the Devils loss to the Bruins last night. He has dropped each of his last four starts, but will still get the nod on back-to-back nights. Tonight will mark his 16th consecutive start of the year, he holds a 2.99 GAA and .901 SV% through the first 15.

Palmieri, who has not played this season because of a high-ankle sprain, was in practice on Tuesday and took part in line rushes with William Karlsson and Andrew Cogliano, which is a good sign that he will make his season debut tomorrow.

Varlamov allowed five goals on 37 shots in the Colorado’s 5-2 loss to the Canucks last Tuesday. Varly was given Thursday off after starting the seven previous games and ended up sitting for two in a row because Reto Berra was rewarded an extra start after playing well vs. Toronto. Varlamov gets back between the pipes with a 2-4-4 record, 2.75 GAA and .925 SV%.

Schneider allowed four goals on 24 shots in a loss to the Red Wings on Friday. He has lost each of his last three starts while posting a 3.28 GAA and .889 SV%. He draws a tough matchup against a Bruins team who have won four in a row while outscoring the opposition 14-7.

Schneider was pulled after he allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Devils’ 3-0 loss to the Blues last night. It was not the best outing, but yanking him early gives him the opportunity to start again tonight in Detroit. He is 4-2-0 with a 3.37 GAA and .897 SV% on the road so far.

Horvat had a solid NHL debut on Tuesday, recording a plus-1 rating with one shot and one blocked shot in 8:52 of ice time. With Alex Burrows returning to the lineup tonight, Horvat will be the one who sits.
