Islanders head coach Jack Capuano said Cal Clutterbuck (leg laceration) could be ready to play by Tuesday's game against the Coyotes. The Islanders will make a determination after Monday's practice.

Clutterbuck was originally expected to miss close to a month, but apparently he is only going to have missed the Isles first two games. Even if he does not play on Tuesday expect him to be back in the lineup Friday vs. Chicago.

Schneider will start Tuesday, it will be his first start in Vancouver since being traded.

Schneider allowed three goals on 21 shots in a 3-0 shutout loss to the Penguins. Schneider will want to have a good start in his return to Vancouver. He will likely face Roberto Luongo which will be quite an intriguing matchup.

Cal Clutterbuck returned to practice today, for the first time since he suffered a leg laceration back in early September.

The off-season acquisition practiced on a line with Casey Cizikas and Peter Regin. Clutterbuck was wearing a non-contact jersey during the skate. On Saturday, the former Minnesota Wild winger was put on injured reserve retroactive to September 17.

Schneider will start the Devils season opener.

Schneider leaves a goaltending platoon in Vancouver to join one in New Jersey. He will get the opening night start over Martin Brodeur, while Brodeur starts the home opener on Friday. He went 17-9-4 with a 2.11 GAA and .927 SV% last year. He is a great goalie, he just has not been given the reigns of the crease just yet.

Cal Clutterbuck will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a leg laceration.

All we knew was that Clutterbuck was going to "miss some time", now the 4 to 6 week recovery period could have him missing the first 10 games of the season. Clutterbuck could potentially see time on a line with Jonathan Tavares this season. The two were line mates when they played for the Oshawa Generals. Playing with Tavares would make Clutterbuck's fantasy value way higher than it has ever been, so monitor his situation after he has recovered from the injury.

Jack Capuano says Cal Clutterbuck suffered a skate laceration and "will miss some extended time." #Isles

Clutterbuck arrived to New York as a restricted free agent, the return for Nino Niederreiter in a trade this summer and then signed a four-year, $11 million deal. There's no real clear indication of how much time is an "extended" amount but it doesn't give the impression that Clutterbuck is going to be back by the start of the season in two weeks but you never know.

The Vancouver Canucks have traded Cory Schneider to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for the ninth overall pick.

Schneider was 17-9-4 with a 2.11 GAA and .927 SV% for the Canucks this season. He will be the Devils goalie of the future with Martin Brodeur coming close to the end of his career. The goalie saga in Vancouver has officially ended!

Cory Schneider
#Canucks goalie Cory Schneider feels like he's "ready to play." Vigneault confirms that he'll play tonight.

Schneider missed the last two games of the regular season and the first two games of the series with a lower-body injury. Roberto Luongo played well in Schneider's absence but the Canucks are still down 2-0 in the series. Scheider finished the season at 17-9-4 with a 2.11 GAA, .927 SV% and he was 0-2-1 vs. the Sharks .
