Varlamov allowed four goals on 24 shots (.833 SV%) for his second-straight loss as he was defeated by the Boston Bruins his last time out. The 34-year-old Islanders' backup has been solid when called upon this season, with his 8-5-1 record, 2.85 GAA and .908 SV%. He will face the Ottawa Senators, who have lost four of their last five contests after a 5-1 loss to Winnipeg last game.

Clutterbuck left last Thursday's game in Buffalo with an upper-body injury and did not return. After evaluation, it was determined that Clutterbuck would miss an undisclosed amount of time and he was placed on the injury reserve Monday retroactively to Jan 19th. With Clutterbuck unavailable, the Islanders have recalled Aatu Raty from Bridgeport (AHL) to replace him on the fourth line.
