The 23-year-old had 14 points (2G / 12A) in 63 career NHL games and could be in the lineup on Wednesday because the Penguins are dealing with a multitude of injuries on the back-end.

Quick stopped 14 of 15 shots in the Kings’ season opener before leaving with a groin injury. Quick has missed the last four and a half months, but will make his return to the crease today vs. the Ducks. Quick is one of fantasy hockey’s top netminders and went 40-23-5 with a 2.22 GAA and .918 SV% in 2015-16.

Quick has been sidelined since the season opener by a groin injury, but General Manager Dean Lombardi said it’s “possible” that Quick is activated from IR and starts this afternoon’s game. Don’t expect to hear about Quick’s status until just before this afternoon’s 4p.m. ET puck-drop.

Calvin Pickard has played well recently, so the Avalanche likely want to allow Martin to get some games in with San Antonio while Pickard starts with the big club. He has swapped places with Jeremy Smith and goes to the Rampage with a 15-10-0 record, 2.72 GAA and .912 SV% in 28 games.

Quick faced some shots and is stretching on the ice for the first time since getting hurt in mid-October. Quick isn’t expected to be back until March and this is the first step in his recovery.

Martin allowed five goals on 26 shots in Colorado’s loss to San Jose on January 23rd. Martin allowed eight goals on 56 shots (.857 SV%) in his first two NHL starts—both vs. San Jose. Martin will make his third appearance tonight and will come against a Kings team that also played last night.

Sheary was hurt during Tuesday’s win over the Predators and will miss at least one month. This is a tough break for the young winger, who has built up a great chemistry with Sidney Crosby this season. Sheary is third on the Penguins in goals (17) and his injury should allow Chris Kunitz or Jake Guentzel to move to the top line.

Martin gave up three goals on 30 shots in an overtime loss in his NHL debut in San Jose on Saturday. It was a pretty good debut for the 21-year-old, who will get another crack at the Sharks tonight. Despite playing well on Saturday, it is difficult to trust a rookie netminder against an offence with as much firepower as San Jose possesses.

Martin, 21, was a third round pick (No.63 overall) in 2013 and will make his NHL debut tonight in San Jose. Martin comes to the NHL after going 15-9-0 with a 2.62 GAA and .915 SV% in 27 games with San Antonio (AHL) this season, but will be a risky spot-start tonight.

Zibanejad missed the last 26 games with a broken fibula, but will be back in the lineup on Tuesday. Zibanejad centred the second line with Pavel Buchnevich and Rick Nash on his wings and enters Tuesday with five goals and 10 assists (15 points) in 19 games.

Martin served as Calvin Pickard’s backup for three games while Semyon Varlamov was sidelined with a groin injury. With Varlamov back on Tuesday, Martin returns to San Antonio, where he has gone 11-7-0 with a 2.31 GAA and .924 SV%.

Blidh picked up one goal in two games with Providence after being sent down last week, to give him 10 points (6G / 4A) in 21 AHL games this season. He comes up having collected one assist in four games with Boston.

Quick’s original timetable was three months, which would have seen him return in mid-January, but Quick will be out closer to five months according to GM Dean Lombardi. The GM also added that they’re not ready “to throw the kitchen sink” at team’s goaltending problems, which means that they should continue to roll with Peter Budaj and Jeff Zatkoff in net.

Semyon Varlamov will not suit up for Wednesday's game because of a groin injury, so Martin has been recalled and will serve as Calvin Pickard's backup. The 21-year-old netminder has gone 11-7-0 with a 2.31 GAA ad .924 SV% in 18 games with San Antonio.

Blidh picked up one assist in four games with the Bruins during his call-up, but he will return to Providence with Noel Acciari ready to return to the lineup on Saturday.
