Ottawa Senators News

Anderson (personal) is expected to return full-time in late-January/early-February.

Anderson has not been with the Senators since December 5th,but he is expected to be back with the team in the next few weeks and is expected to stay with the team through the remainder of the season. Mike Condon has filled in admirably while Anderson was away, but the 35-year-old will return to the crease with a 12-6-1 with a 2.46 GAA and .924 SV%.

The Sabres have recalled Linus Ullmark from Rochester (AHL).

Ullmark, 23, has gone 15-13-1 with a 3.02 GAA and .908 SV% in 29 games with Rochester this season and his recall suggests that there is something wrong with Anders Nilsson as Ullmark and Robin Lehner are the only goalies on the ice this morning.

Hamonic (lower-body) will not play on Wednesday; listed as day-to-day.

As expected, Hamonic will be held out of tonight’s game vs. the Panthers. Adam Pelech will replace Hamonic on the Islanders’ top pairing with Nick Leddy. Head coach Jack Capuano said that Hamonic is likely to “miss a couple of games,” so don’t expect him to play on Friday or Saturday either.

Forsberg will start Tuesday in Carolina.

Sergei Bobrovsky is sick and Curtis McElhinney is now a Maple Leaf, so Forsberg will make his season debut tonight in Carolina. The 24-year-old played very well during his time in Cleveland, going 12-6-1 with a 2.16 GAA and .930 SV% in 21 games. He is 1-7-0 with a 4.01 GAA and .882 SV% in his NHL career. He is a risky start against a sneaky good Carolina team.

The Blue Jackets have recalled Anton Forsberg from Cleveland (AHL).

Forsberg has gone 12-6-1 with a 2.16 GAA and .930 SV% in 21 games with Cleveland this season and has been recalled to replace Curtis McElhinney as Sergei Bobrovsky’s backup. McElhinney has been placed on waivers, so expect Forsberg to remain with the Blue Jackets for the foreseeable future.

Bibeau will start Thursday in Tampa Bay.

Bibeau allowed two goals on 28 shots in the Maple Leafs loss to Colorado on December 11th. Bibeau was supposed to get a start before the Christmas break, but it never happened, but Mike Babcock will stick to his guns tonight and start Bibeau tonight in Tampa Bay. Bibeau has gone 7-7-1 with a 2.46 GAA and .908 SV% in 16 starts with the Marlies this season.

Bibeau is expected to start Friday in Arizona.

Bibeau allowed two goals on 28 shots in the Maple Leafs’ loss to the Avalanche in his only NHL start of the season. During his time with the Marlies, the 22-year-old netminder has gone 7-6-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .910 SV% and could make for a decent spot-start option vs. the Coyotes. Arizona comes in as losers of their last three games.

The Red Wings have recalled Nick Jensen from Grand Rapids (AHL).

Jensen, 26, has been recalled to serve as an extra defenseman during the Red Wings’ three- game road trip. The 2009 fifth round pick has one goal and five assists (six points) in 27 games with the Griffins. Don’t expect him to make his NHL debut unless one of the Red Wings’ regular defensemen gets injured.

Anderson (personal) will not travel to San Jose with the team.

Anderson continues to leave the team to be with his wife and this time he leaves after playing just one game—he allowed seven goals on 43 shots in an 8-5 loss in Pittsburgh last night. The Senators will continue to lean on Mike Condon as their starter and have recalled Andrew Hammond from Binghamton (AHL) to be their backup.

Craig Anderson

Anderson allowed five goals on 28 shots in the Senators loss to the Sabres last Tuesday. After the game, he left the team for the rest of the week, but returns to the crease tonight in Pittsburgh. Anderson comes into play tied for sixth in wins (12), tied for seventh in SV% (.930) and tied for 13th in GAA (2.20). He’ll take on a Penguins team that has won three of four.
